Matt, I have in the basement near 200 1/72 scale models still in their boxes, mostly Jap WWII. As I near scratchbuit each one because of the level of detail I like to add that I've calculated to finish all them I have to live 180 years!!!
I hope to post tomorrow the pics of the A6M2, P-47D, J8M1 Shusui and to found the pics of the MXY-7...

Yes it certainly is . For the bloodshot eyes, and teeth.. I handpainted these. It took me the whole day of Christmas Eve 2008 to make them perfect. And although it took ages, the end product is WELL worth it. LOL

Hey Vince1159,

Do you have an airbrush/compressor? And what type of models do you build mostly (if any), just out of interest .. LOL

I will post some more pictures of a modified Wellington on Monday. That was a great success too. LOL

Matt

Re: matt109's Scale Plastic Models- Variousv Aircraft Types...

I've thought about buying an airbrush/compressor before but i haven't made a kit for a few years.The last ones i made were Matchbox/Airfix,WW2 and a few commercial....Can't wait for the Wellington,and PT-TAA's P-47.

Re: matt109's Scale Plastic Models- Variousv Aircraft Types...

Hello guys!!
As promised earlier here's some pics of my models... the first ones I post are pics of my unfinished Type 0 Carrier Fighter model 21 or A6M2 Zero. Every detail is scratch built (plasticard, plastic rods, copper wire many diameters, zinc wire, plastic tubbing, etc... only the 'basic' instrument panel (it's details too are scratch built) and the seat belts are photoetch. The control column is original (slight modified) from the kit. Enjoy!!

Re: matt109's Scale Plastic Models- Variousv Aircraft Types...

And now the P-47. It's an old 1/72 Hasegawa P-47, I built it as a P-47-D25 flew by Cpt. Fortunato Camara de Oliveira, leader of the Blue flight of the 1st Brazilian Fighter Squadron based at San Giusto airfield, Italy, in 1944-45. Rocket tubes, centerline tank, cockpit interior, gun sight, engine details, oil coolers and turbosupercharger intakes, landing gear bays and doors are all scratch built. Resin wheels; vacuformed canopy; landing light is from a set produced for 1/43 diecast cars; machine gun barrels are syringe needles. Re: matt109's Scale Plastic Models- Variousv Aircraft Types...

Simply GREAT! I'll ltake some progress photo's of my He217. I have started using brass cockpit parts, and I must say, although most are shipped from CZ, and cost alot for postage and the product, it is well worth it. I don't shop at Hannants... they rip you off >.

BTW: what type of glue do you use?

I use Faller (for plastic), Super glue liquid and gel, dual component...
