Home Spotting

Hey guys, I live underneath one of the stars for Paine Field, so I am able to get some amazing views of planes. I am going to start doing some home spotting, HOPEFULLY with a good camera

Qatar 777-200LR final approach:

Re: Home Spotting

Wow, I like this thread! Because I live about 30 minutes away from any airport, homespotting is one of my favorite things to do (when it's clear, of course!). Nice to see I'm not the only one
Keep it up! What else do you see down that flight path?

Re: Home Spotting

TBH, mostly Cessna's, or business jets. I do not get planes down that flight path too often though. Sometimes, I will see a military formation, that is quite exciting! And LOUD! Does anyone know of a tool to show me which STAR my house is under?

Re: Home Spotting

I live just south of the aproach onto the most frequently used runway at Newcastle, I get some great views of aircraft on aproach. Just a few mins ago I saw an easyjet A320 fly directly over my house which is a rare occurrence due to the flight path being the same direction, only a little north.

Re: Home Spotting

Been down your way countless times. Just up I-5. I will check daily to see what you captured. We were up on the hill once, and a Cargolux B747-400 did a rejected landing. Power from flight idle to what 80% in under ten seconds. It was impressive.

Great stuff! How about logging some registrations for us too so we can get a taste of the variety? I'm lucky where I am because I get all the traffic for my local airport (Robin Hood Doncaster/Sheffield) plus airways traffic heading to and from the US and northern Europe, Ireland, London and beyond into the ME. My spotting logs are always full of registrations of huge variety!

Re: Home Spotting

Well, I got another treat for you. I had no idea what this was until I zoomed into the photo as I was not wearing my gl***** lol. Turns out I caught a rare treat! A KLM 789 as Boeing 234! I was unable to get the registration though...

You can even see the massive wing flex from that distance.
