Re: Aviationmegastore (Amsterdam): a real paradise!

Visited the Aviation Megastore back in August when I came over to Schiphol for a couple of days. The store is very impressive and I spent far more than I expected to .

Re: Aviationmegastore

Roughly how much is a taxi from Schipol to the shop? I will be in Amsterdam over New Year and will pop in on Thursday 3rd Jan before I fly back to LCY.

First of all, taking a taxi is really expensive (about EUR 30 one way) and besides that, you will most probably not find a cab driver who will take you for such a short ride!!

The best thing to do (and much cheaper) is to take bus 187 from the airport and get out at the stop "Boeingavenue". Bus goes every 15 minutes and trip takes about 15 minutes.

Re: Aviationmegastore

I'm going to the store next week.
It's like going into a casino. I'll only have money in my wallet which i'm allowed to use. My Maestro and Visa Card are taken and monitored by my girlfriend...

Can't wait for next week. It's like Christmas, Easter and Birthday on one single day!!!

Mike

Re: Aviationmegastore

Cool to see some photos from this shop. I can really recommend this shop as well.
Myself, I visit it annually a couple of times. The choice, in all scales, but also other aviation related products are in store.

The other shop, in Schiphol Plaza is much overpriced. They dare to ask prices over 22 euros for a little Dornier 328 model (1:500)! Some models are just over 40 euros, which is ridiculous because the Aviation Megastore (and most other shops) are selling those for almost half the price.

You can get on the Radisson Blu shuttle bus which is free of charge (no proof of stay required when I went). Aviation Megastore is a 5 minute walk from there.

Opening times can be found Opening hours - AviationMegastore.com
