But i'll quote myself here:

"I'll let you know that, not once after they purchased the sites from us did they have one of their people learn how w900/dac worked. Not once did they show any interest in the software. They didn't keep up paying the licensing fees (the software here is still out of date and susceptible to hacks), and they kept telling us that brighter days were ahead. You the user would want to see data on real planes, toy planes, matchbox cars, trucks, aviation products, etc... Dancing unicorns and pots-o-gold were coming so soon! OMG!

After all the snake oil was promised, they toiled and played around with the other sites they purchased (this is pre hobbydb), bought too much, didn't know what they were doing, and hence lost their vision and direction over the course of 2 years. Unknown to us, they had to sell the forums (be your own judge to figure out the meaning of "had", its pretty damn obvious), enter Mas Media (apparently they are forum specialists, yet they can't even fix BASIC issues on a forum) as the savior to own the sites and then the failed attempt to move everyone to hobbydb. We got blindsided and made an attempt to get the sites back, we were turned down, so I kicked them off my server.

And during all this they told me that "airline logos aren't important"... If we had known this before, we never would have sold the sites. They later admitted that they under estimated how much people like logos. They could not afford to lease them (we were not about to give them away without something in return, we were burned before and refused to be burned again) And to quote Willy Wonka: "You get nothing, You Loose! Good Day Sir!"

There was NEVER an agreement between anyone for airline logos, so once they moved off of my server the logos ceased to work and other functions failed because they never properly prepared their server for the pieces of software that are required.
Now you see the result. They have NO clue how to fix this software, they have NO clue how to make any changes, they don't understand you or how this community works, and they have constantly been focused on their hobbydb pipe dream.

In the end, they don't care about you, its not a hobby, its a business. If they had any interest they would have fixed it by now, I could fix all the issues in about 2 hours... I don't believe for one bit they care about you, they've been screwing around with the users here for years, if they really did care they'd get someone to actually fix the issues so while they created their all new fabulous unreal drop-dead amazing database, you guys would be satisifed. Through all this, they closed up shop in the UK, changed their name twice, let all the directors go, tried to terminate their business, and then moved HobbyDB to the US to try again: https://opencorporates.com/companies...526015/filings

The back-story to all this is very long and one day we can all sit down with hot cocoa, curl up by the fire and read it. Don't believe anything any of the current owners tell you or promise you. The former owners got burned, and you as a community all got burned as well.

They will deny all of this, i know the truth and boy is there more to this story..."
When you owned the site it worked and was perfect. I say no more...
Ok, I miss writing reviews..

Yes, I did too - right after I complained about this forum with my starting post on this thread. It's not a seamless process at all, had about 30 models that wouldn't crossover so I did it manually - and what was odd was the numbers I put in (any and all) were rejected - but upon a manual search - ta-da - there they were. I'm also having to manually enter my date of purchase (for 150 airplanes) manually, so it's not anywhere near as user friendly as Wings900. As for now, I'll just maintain both sites until I see what does/does not occur.

Re: How about a firm, sensible answer about "Airline Logos Unavailable"

i think the new database is a total failure: many models still not there, strange way of designing the database. i feel bit bored to navigate there

i still prefer the current wings900 DB which i use a lot. SURE the airline logos are very very ANNOYING.i dont know why but instead of making all this fuss about the New Database, they could have implement some improvements on the current one : different currencies, improve trade/sell list, add more than 3 photos for each model

i have always encountered a problem with Herpa models' photos since i collect 1:500. for some models herpa produce different versions of the same model. i cant tell which one i have unless i see the box. so an improvment could be by adding a photo of model with its box to the database
also few models like Emirates A300 or 310 (forgot which exactly) herpa has very contradicting photos: 2 out of 3 are identical and the third is for another version

G'day,

I totally agree with you on this. since I joined the Database team in early 2013 I have endeavoured to ALWAYS include in the third photo the top of the manufactures box as well as the model. I've probably done this to about 1000 models, which means there is still around 36000+ to go... but if you have photos of any of the models you state above, I'd be more then happy to add them to the correct models in the database.

email me at:
[email protected]
with your photos and I usually upload photos sent this way to me within 24-48 hours. Don't worry about what the photo size is, as long as it's bigger then 640 pixels.

Cheers Lou

Re: How about a firm, sensible answer about "Airline Logos Unavailable"

Great someone else noticed my remarks.. if it is my decision on this site, i would have post 4 photos of each model :
1- with the box.
2- right side of plane
3- left side of the plane
4- any special remarks

models produced more than once, can be identified through mainly 2 things: box color and design or by fuselage windows design (some models show canceled windows colored white)

well i will be glad to help improving the database. however now i am in france and all of my models are back home in beirut.. will be back home this year and promise to check all the models i have (can contact you later for that)

here i have few 1:500 and 1:400 .will check and compare with the database and send you photos if any is missing

one last question: do you think herpa (or any other manufacturer) can provide our database with many photos of all the models they produced over the years. iam sure they should have something or samples in their archives
regards

Is this a new petition? I remember signing a similar petition on this thread. Now it seems that my signature is not on the list, so I'll sign it again.

Looks like the "logo unavailable" logo has changed. This is the new "logo":
