Re: My New Model Airport: 1/400 Dublin Intl Airport

Hi All,

Pictures will be up soon as I have to sort out my Flickr account. Airport is near completion and yesterday I bought modelers grass and leds for possible airport lighting.

Re: My New Model Airport: 1/400 Dublin Intl Airport

Nice job also if, maybe, you should put more attention to the straight and curved lines using different types of rulers. I know that realizing perfect lines is very difficult and only after many attempts the runway/taxiway/apron lines will be almost perfect.
How big this layout will be? I repeat, nice job.

Re: My New Model Airport: 1/400 Dublin Intl Airport

Thanks for the advice, I had experience with those taxiways and markings before and I understand why they may not be perfect This is my 3rd airport. I was originally going to use chalk, but did not know how to keep it from smudging. The current dimensions are... in inches: L:48 W: 36

Thanks,

For future reference:

Click on the photo as you have done so it become enlarged
Next, go to the bottom right hand side of the page and you should see a box with an arrow jumping out
Click that then ensure BBCode is selected
Then select Medium (or large) and copy the text in the box (under 'Copy and paste the code below')
Next just paste the text into the W900 message box. Do this for each photo and post. The photo's should then be displayed here on the forum.

Re: My New Model Airport: 1/400 Dublin Intl Airport

I like it!
the combo of printed foils and hand-drawn is very interesting!
However like charter said earlier maybe you could redo some parst and do them with a strait edge, it can make your airport look very professional!

Thanks, is there any thing that stops chalk smearing? Chalk might be a good material to use as I have seen it before

Thanks for the advice!

Not for me. I continue to think that Uniposca pens are the best, especially those with the fine tip. After some mistakes and with some experience you can arrive to well measure the strenght on the pen, so the quantity of color on the panel will be correct. Now i can refer to Malta Airport, my masterpiece: it was a work for a real airport, i had to realize an almost perfect replica of "Luqa", no space for mistakes. Uniposca pens were "great friends", clear lines, i did not spread the color, very suitable with the curved and straight rulers.

Re: My New Model Airport: 1/400 Dublin Intl Airport

Uniposca pens?, where do you buy them? Are they sort of like pigment liners?

For my last airport I tried to use paint but it was a bit hard to lay down equally.

I used stabilo minis for this project.

I might get those pens for the holding short lines and will try to go over the current lines with more accuracy and detail. BTW, have you ever added leds to your display? Been trying to join the wires up to the leds and it seems impossible.

Thanks again,

Re: My New Model Airport: 1/400 Dublin Intl Airport

Hi Guys!

I have been away for a while and have just got back. I will continue to update this thread with updates but I will be ending my project soon. I will be making a GJ airport with Terminal and mat. Unfortunately I am on a tight budget with only 180 euros. Anyone, know if there is a bundle for that much including shipping? It would be appreciated.

Before I begin my new project I will post dozens of pictures of Dublin Airport. I will be also posting some pictures of my collection.

Happy Flying!
