Cesama Airport - 1:600 Lego

First pictures, how and why to come later. Not used to blogs, so be patient.

All 1:600 scale, all terminals built in Lego. 7 terminals, each inspired by a city that I have lived in. Each terminal hosts that country's airlines, plus there's an international terminal for the others.

How it works:

The idea is that every flight I have taken in my entire life stops here halfway. 1067 flights so far. Airport operates 0600-2400 so some times are adjusted. A model (aircraft/airline combo) will not be doubled until that plane is needed to fly in more than 9 times a day, so again some times are adjusted because the same plane can't be at the airport twice at the same time until I have a second copy of that model.

Re: Cesama Airport - 1:600 Lego - Terminal D

Terminal D: the newest terminal is inspired by Munich and receives all German airlines. It has 3 wide-body ramps, 9 narrows and 4 regionals, plus 4 bus-in positions across the taxiway by Terminal U.

Now that I have lived in Berlin for 2 years, I am going to have to split the German airlines over 2 locations and build a small Tegel-inspired terminal for all non-Lufthansa airlines.

Re: Cesama Airport - 1:600 Lego - Terminal U

Terminal U: for U.S. airlines, American to one side, the rest to the other. It has 6 wide-body ramps, 8 gates for narrows and 3 positions for regionals/commuters.

Inspired by all those airports with striking terminals and ugly/plain piers, the main hall is currently being re-designed.

Re: Cesama Airport - 1:600 Lego - Terminal I

Terminal I: this terminal receives all the airlines from countries where I have not lived. It is inspired partly by Zurich (narrows pier) while the wide-body area a mish-mash of airport satellite designs. It has 15 ramps for wide-body planes, 10 for narrows and 3 for commuters.

Since all the flights I have taken in my life land at this airport, this is the terminal where you might see ATRs from Air Botswana, Air Tahiti and AZAL Azerbaijan all lined up together. In this mid-morning photo, several Asian flights are making their stop-over.

Terminal I has already outgrown it current structure and will undergo major renovations. It addition to being miraculously flipped around so that the satellite part goes to the middle of the entire airport platform, it will soon have 2 long parallel piers and the wasted tarmac space will be drastically reduced.

Re: Cesama Airport - 1:600 Lego

The custom models were all done by myself, with a lot of searching for images and graphics on the web.
