1/400 Summer Season Model Airport

Since last winter I have been working on this new airport. The idea was to have it completed before or at the latest the start of the summer season. Of course, this did not happen. I also worked on schedules, looking at FR24 and other sources to help me better showcase the models on the airport. This will give a greater idea of operations throughout each update. Each update will be based on a specific hour of the day.

All current updates will be based on Monday. The first during the period between 0800-0900. Some schedules are operational during the night... which without actual airport lighting installed is almost impossible to photograph. I have no intention of installing LED lights but I will attempt some kind of method to try and illuminate some aspects of the airport. This will be a trial and error procedure. For the most part, all photo's will be during daylight hours hence why I have started at 0800.

Here is the first update... some will be busier than others. Some models will only feature taxiing past because I want to give an idea of the scale of the airport as if it was real. Rather than using all stands visible and making it look overcrowded.

Clean setup, overall well done. What did you use to make the cones. Adds a nice little touch of realism.

Airport threads are always very interesting because of the variety in traffic at each scale model aircraft and your airport is wonderfully interesting...that Virgin Queen looks resplendent at that Gate!!!

I love the cargo area but the entire layout looks beautiful and full of potential.
Great job with the apron marks and with the beautiful runway.

Thank you. They were made by someone else. Just small pieces of plastic it seems. Very delicate little things.

Thank you Charter. All this work is credit to you. Without you none of this would be possible I don't think. Your work helped me fulfill my potential.

Very nice layout! I really enjoy how you have incorporated plenty of taxiways along with a portion of runway! Everything looks very clean and your grass looks very realistic. Looking forward to more!

Re: 1/400 Summer Season Model Airport

Nice diorama you have here Adam! I appreciate that I missed your first update, but it's great to see a new project from you and hopefully this latest diorama will be here to stay! You have all aspects covered with an interesting mix of narrowbody and widebody services, plus a small cargo section making for a well-rounded overall diorama. My favourite photo from this update has to be the one with all three of your Virgin Atlantic B747-400's together!

Great work and thanks for posting your updates once again!

- Cal.

Great to see so many different airlines and aircraft, even those we don't have in 1/500. I also like the shot of all the Virgin 747s together!

Re: 1/400 Summer Season Model Airport

Lovely, very nice! My favorite pics are definitely the ones with the Virgin Jumbos!
Interesting to see how one model is kinda beige (Etihad feelings!), while the other one is more silver.

I really admire the precise ground markings of this airport, as well as the diversity of airplane traffic, Also, your photography is excellent. Thanks for sharing this diorama project with us here!
