Cwa 1:500

Hi Everyone! Well after a long absence from the hobby I am jumping back in and while there have been many changes since 2007 I have began updating my collection and began building my first of two new airports.

Sorry for the long intro but it is necessary to understand the goal behind this airport.

The first airport is called Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA). This is a smaller regional airport about 15 minutes from me. It is somewhat centered between Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit. Currently it sees roughly 12-16 departures a day usually regional jets feeding those 3 airports, with occasional direct flights across the U.S. Right now there are 4 gates and runways are not long enough for wide body aircraft. There has been lots of talk along with proposals for the past few years of a terminal expansion along with lengthening of 1 runway to accommodate larger aircraft. For my airport i have went ahead and made these improvements lengthening 1 runway and expanding the terminal to 7 gates. Expect to see the same regional flights along with some new carriers with direct flights to select cities. While i don't expect much for international travel from CWA at this time, I will hopefully begin the planning phase for my international airport soon!

Thanks for reading i look forward to updating!

Laying out and adding lines. More ground detail still to be added

Current view of CWA

Looking good indeed! Although using other buildings instead of the Herpa ones would be a bit more pleasing. Anyway, hope to see some planes and ground service equipment very soom

Yes I knew I would get some criticism as I saw the disliking of them in some other threads and I do agree on the basic herpa buildings taking away some creativity but I have invested in so many it’s hard not to use them however I tried to put them together in a more custom way.

Also friends I accept all types of recommendations good or bad. I am not really involved in the aviation world however I have always been amazed and interested with commercial aircrafts and anything model like especially the realism of 1:500!

As for the traffic, I do not want to give to much away ahead of time but expect to see plenty of daily traffic from Delta and American along with frequent visits from carriers like air canada, jet blue, United and really excited for flights of some customs of U.S carriers that a fellow forum friend is working on 😉

Thanks again!

Re: Cwa 1:500

Really lovely! Nice birds and plenty of GSE! The Delta CRJ-900, 717 , FedEx ATR and Atlas 767 are my favorite birds here. Can't wait to see the Spirit A320, will be a very nice (and tacky) visitor

The Atlas/DHL 767 next to the FX ATR is a great scene. Cargo birds are always cool

Re: Cwa 1:500

A very colourful opening to your diorama; and plenty of cool traffic. You got the little regionals of AA and DAL, nice cargo ops, and some MD8X/717 family members present! I'll follow along and look forward to another colourful addition: Spirit!
