First of all, Amsterdam is really one of the most beautiful cities of the world. It seats on the water, so many canals that make it a Venice with a different architecture. The people are friendly and polite, i never had problems; the real problem are the too many bicycles and the people that think to have right of way than the other, even the pedestrians. Very often i shouted against running cyclist without consider that a tourist or an old man or woman are crossing the streets, even under the rain. Sometimes this is really dangerous!
But this doesn't want to be a criticism, just an observation about an habit of a population who can use the bicycles for everything and to go anywhere, a way of locomotion green, healthy and cheap.
Anyway in Italy we have many bad habits, and one is the worst: Dragan knew about this when he met me in Italy and we have been to one of the most beautiful lakes around Rome with my car, Thom knew about this when he went in Rome few months ago...when you come to Italy and there is a traffic light in front of you consider that
- when the traffic light is green Italian drivers pass fast without caring of the others
- when the traffic light is yellow Italian drivers pass decelerating (but this is the most dangerous situation for the pedestrians and the other drivers because many accelerate to pass before the light turns red!)
- when the traffic light is red Italian drivers pass slowly.
Italian drivers, especially in the central Italy and about always in the south, don't stop before the pedestrian crossing.

The other thing that amazed me is that in Amsterdam there are thousand of tourists from China, the city is full of Chinese and Thom told me that while my KLM B737-800WL was landing a China Southern A380 was landing as well. I think that the power of a country is shown also by the people traveling for pleasure, and it was the same when Spain was living a great period, the year 2007, when i traveled all over the world just in a year and each place was full of tourists from Spain.
