Re: All Aboard! (All things Railways).

I've been collecting model railroad items for years now. I still have one my first two pieces of rolling stock, all the way from 2008! Anyways, I want to model a subway system in North America, like New York City's system or Mexico City's as well. However, some cars for those systems are either very rare or non-existant.

What I really want to do is make my own subway system for a city either in California or Mexico. I already have a name for the city and system. San Rojas Metro Rail, run by the San Rojas Mass Transit Authority. The system uses Light Rail, Subway, and Bus service. But I probably won't do this system in a long, long time.

Re: All Aboard! (All things Railways).

I want a European subway system like Paris or even Brussels. The Nrussels premetro (Light rail) wouldn't be too difficult as the T4000 cars are available but they are expensive and you need to create a difficult underground scenery

That depends on the scale. I know one website, Island Model Works, has a few NYC subway cars in 0, H0 and N scales.

Some of the older models are the best! I have an old Airfix 31 from 1975 which still runs well although it makes slightly more noise than the real thing!
Dang! All this talk of railways has had an effect...just bought a Hornby 58 off eBay for 27 Not the best thing to be doing this time of year haha! Think I'll remove the coal sector branding and do this one out in Mainline Grey too. It's numbered 58006 currently but I'm thinking maybe 58018. One of the first 'bones' I saw!

Great find!
I'm not sure if anyone has checked the Hornby website but they have announced there 2015 range. Nothing new on the diesel/electric front but a few gems from the steam side of things.
We're getting a new;
GWR king
lNER J50!
Aspinall radial tank
SR S15! (Very very happy)

Re: All Aboard! (All things Railways).

Sorry, its been a while, but here is my fifth model, a diesel for once. This is the Bachmann Class 105 in BR Green with warning panels. This class of DMUs were built for branch lines across Britain in the late 50s and were used extensively all around the country except in the Southern Region.
This is a really nice model, but unfortunately it cant run on my layout at the moment as I am waiting for some more decoders.
Here she is:

Yeah I thought so too and at a decent price, I picked this up for just 70, if my memory serves me correctly.

Wow, that is a good price. Especially considering that they are motorized.

Yeah, I was pretty chuffed.(once again excuse the pun) I think I got it from Hattons of Liverpool last year. They have some pretty good offerings at decent prices.

Re: All Aboard! (All things Railways).

My only other two passenger cars in H0, two SJ (Swedish State Railways) cars painted in 1980's colours. The top car is a conference car of 1980's design, and therefore not open to "ordinary" passengers. The bottom one is a combined first and second class carriage of 1960's design. Sadly i do not have a matching locomotive, but some of my friends do.

And hopefully i will soon have my hands on the two "Konferansvagn" signs for the conference car. I only discovered after i bought the car that they were missing. Fingers crossed!

Also, i can't believe i haven't mentioned it. It's been in front of me the whole time! My Youtube channel has plenty of railroading videos from Stockholm and other parts of Sweden.

Re: All Aboard! (All things Railways).

That Bachmann 105...

Unfortunately all my modelling is done on a budget at the moment :'( I can't afford DCC and the latest up to date rolling stock so make do with older models, but the running quality on my track is **** at the moment. Think it needs pulling up and starting again!
