Re: I have been promoted

Good for you! Hope to photograph whatever you're flying on your stops through SEA, as we get Skywest CRJ's in the form of AS, UA, and even sometimes Skywest's house liveries (usually operating for Alaska/Horizon). I've photographed many Skywest CRJ's at SEA and PDX.

What type of Skywest CRJs are based at Salt Lake SLC ? What's the MTOW of the CRJ700/900?

There are CRJ-200ER, -700ER, and -900's at SLC. As well there is the EMB-125 Brasilia. In fact, SkyWest holds about 58% of the market share at SLC. The MTOW's at SLC are generally lighter than the factory stated weights due to the high altitude, (field elevation 5,400 feet) especially during the summer when you can have a pressure altitude of 8,000 feet and 100 degrees. So, MTOW's will depend. Here are the factory weights at sea level: CRJ-200ER 53,000 pounds. CRJ-700ER 75,000 pounds. CRJ-900 80,500 pounds. I hope that helps!

I am quite happy today to announce that I am now a captain for Skywest Airlines. After about a year and a half as first officer, I have been promoted. I work in the Delta connection branch of Skywest, and am based at Salt Lake International flying CRJ's. I guess now you know where one half of my screen name comes from! I will be doing routine training before flying my first flight as a captain in the CRJ's
Man, you must be a sky god! How did you pull off captain after just a year and a half? And SLC based too?! Weird man, I have 3 friends hired in 2007, and 2 hired in 2009 and they are still FO. And they tell me the MOST JUNIOR captain at SkyWest was hired in 2006 and is ORD based (junior base).

You need to share with us your secrets Frank Abignale!

Just saw the great news that you were promoted Captain at SkyWest Airlines! Please accept my belated congratulations!

You need to write a tell-all on you meteoric rise to Captain after just a year and a half. My best friend has been a FO for them since 2007 and tells me that the most junior captain was hired in 2006 and is based at ORD (one of the 3 most junior bases). Just boggles the mind!

Re: Attn member MD11CRJ700...

I have to say, his service to the airline had to be up and beyond to get promoted that quickly. I've heard stories of people in right seat for almost a decade before they earned their 4th stripe.

Re: I have been promoted

Just noticed this thread, top notch work! Must be very exciting you, up there in terms of excitement as doing you first solo, I know that was an experience that couldn't be beat for me! Good luck in your future flying endeavors, just don't forget to go back to your roots and beat around in an old 172 sometime for fun. Congrats again!

You need to read my post two above this. This is another FSX'er living in fantasy land. It's an insult to any pilot.
