What about a rematch in the semi finals. Germany vs. Italy!
You remember 2006?

Re: Who will win the next european football championship?

The Spaniards look strong and Fernando Torres could spark them to victory. Definitely can't overlook the Italians and Germans. Also, the French might surprise and Franck Ribery should be fun to watch. I am looking forward to seeing how Portugal makes out. Bring it on!!

Re: Who will win the next european football championship?

With no England I will say.......Spain (just can't get their head around winning anything)and Italy ( great defence, but not enough goals this summer), will just miss out. I think between France (well prepared this time) and Portugal ( but only if boy wonder stays fit). That's my lot. By the way, any new liveries being brought out to celebrate the finals .

Re: Who will win the next european football championship?

France will progress to the quarter-finals from that super tough group C and they have the chance to triumph this EURO 2008. One of their qualification matches on home soil against Italy proves they are still tough even though Zidane is not in the team anymore.

hmmm...

I think Portugal so far has the most harmonic team, great players and with they have with scorlari a real old fox as the coach, who is great strategist

except Portugal I would say Italy and Germany are the other potential winners...Italians cuz their defence is very stable and they have an experienced team and German cuz of the fighting spirit of the team

France isn't as strong as it was before, a huge part of France's succes in last decade based on Zidanes performance as leader and playmaker, he probally was the strongest player France ever had(even better than Platini) so it will be very hard for France to replace Zidane....they are some super players which influence their team's performance for years and after their retirement the team would for years having troubles to find a similar player..... and it isn't so easy to replace team like (Pele or Ronaldinho for Brazil, Maradona for Argentina, or Cryuff for netherlands) and we have the same situation for France and Zidane......France will not be able to play even close to their world cup performance for several years

Re: Who will win the next european football championship?

Italy all the way. It starts today too. I'm just a bit afraid of the unexperienced coach.

I didn't know that Germany has quite a few supporters outside Europe...

But I'm with them of course.

Holland - Italy : 3 - 0 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Unexpected, but very good game!

(I admit: the first goal was offside)

Re: Who will win the next european football championship?

I thought that first goal was offside, but later a refere explained on TV that according to new FIFA rules that goal is also correct... so all 3 goals were correct

I must say, the dutch team really played very good...till now Portugal and Netherlands showed the best performance, but the during the competiton lot of teams will have ups and down.... so Italians still have a chance if they improve and beat romania in next game....

Re: Who will win the next european football championship?

Italy must win against Romania and France to advance in my opinion. Also, what FIFA rules say that is not offsides? The guy who was on the ground wasn't on the field of play, therefore barring him from the offsides rule.

At least I have Netherlands and Sweden in my pool, so my home country falling isn't as bad as it could have been.

There is really such a rule. I never heard about that before, too.
But losing against the Netherlands is very embarrassingly!
