Re: $100 a barrel oil

Lmao. Way to bring back a thread from 2008. But this makes sence. I may only be 14 years old, but I do know the whole gas thing.

It's mainly because the middle east (where we get most of our oil from) is crashing. I think Libya is our biggest oil place. Where they're having protests, along with Egypt, the workers of the oil fields have stopped working and are protesting. So we aren't getting oil as much. That's why it's so expensive.

Along with Iraq/Iran. I heard somewhere that we got oil from them too, but we attacked them to get more oil (???) I think. I'm not 100% on that.

But yes, it's mainly the cause of the protests in Africa and Middle East.

To be honest, it is a bit more complex than that. All sorts of strange things have to do with it, largely with people who speculate on commodities on the NYMEX.

Most of Libya's oil goes to Europe, with Italy being the most dependant on Libyan oil with 35% coming from Libya.
The United States gets oil mostly from Saudi Arabia.

We get some don't we? Becuase my SS teacher said it was affecting us and our oil.

@LOT Do you think if the Iraqi war hadn't started, our oil/gas would be cheaper?

Like LOT said, there are a million things that affect oil price, and to the best of my knowledge, no, we do not get any oil from Libya. The US has very little to do with them period, it would be the equivalent of us dealing with Iran.

Then how is the Libya situation affecting us? Why are we so caught up in it?

Probably cause we don't like the Libyan dictator...he has been a pain in the *** since the 80's, think of the Pan Am flight brought down by a Lybian, who was treated like a hero...

Also, being from the US, you should know how we just love to see another country in revolt to bring in democracy

Re: $100 a barrel oil

Heres what i dont get,

If theres only 10 aeroclassic easyjet A320, supply and demand suggest the price of that model is going to be sky high and difficult to find.

If Petrol is to so hard to find these days with libya and the middle east haveing problems sand therefore the price rises, why have i never seen 1 single petrol station close due to the inability to souce fuel for sale.

Re: $100 a barrel oil

I hear that we have more oil than Saudi Arabia right in the US, but because of these knob environmentalists we can't drill here. They can kiss my a**. Our economy is going to take an even bigger dump because of this. I hear too that food prices are almost 29% more than it was last year. So more than half a normal paycheck is going to gas and food.

We need oil, drill here, drill now!

And we didn't invade Iraq for oil. Don't believe your libtard teachers.

Re: $100 a barrel oil

You moan at prices.. it's £1.35 on average for one LITRE of diesel. If people had less thirsty cars, there would be less 'effect' of the price rises.
I reckon that the uprisings in North Africa and the Gulf has something/or-will-have something to do with prices. It is my personal belief that the tyrannical dicators will be removed only to have radicalized governments taking their place and holding the West to ransom - with oil!

FUBAR ALERT! FUBAR ALERT! FUBAR ALERT! FUBAR ALERT! FUBAR ALERT!

Yes yes... deserts of it. So do we. the North Sea is full of it, and only recently has in been economically viable to pump it out!

We also have s**itloads of energy. It is often found in wind, waves, solar and nuclear. All of which are better for electricity than hydrocarbons. We should use hydrocarbons for cars and jets, not to heat our homes. I do, (probably going to piss off lots of people) hold more liberal views. Lets just move on. The oil is drying up, it's too expensive so let's make those Saudi bastards drown in their own oil by showing them we no longer need it. Point made. Rant over.

Sorry for multi-post fail guys.
