I paid 2.95 at Sam's Club late last week. Just some interesting numbers there are 22 million barrels of oil consumed per day in the US. It costs ExxonMobil approximately 20 dollars to get one barrel of oil to their refineries in the US. From one barrel of oil one can get 42 gallons of gasoline. So you figure 50 cents at that stage, if you figure the cost of getting the gallon of gasoline to the station, profit for the company and the profit for the station you tack on another 50 cents. Add on taxes of about 50 cents per gallon and you're at 1.50. Sometimes things just make you go hmm...

I don't know how it works in North America, but in Europe from the money you pay for gas just 15%-20% goes to the countries which export oil, the rest is all different taxes which make governments in West become richer! in this case I'm not wondering that Opec countries are angry if West ask them to put the price down, cuz they expect Western nations to put their taxes down and I can understand them, they also say lot of oil products like different type of plastic products from Western companies would be sold to Opec nations for 10-20 times higher prices!!!!!!

is just like you expect from someone to sell you milk as cheap as possible and then you would make ice cream from the same milk and sell the guy the ice cream 10 times more expensive and if he is trying to ask you for a fair price you would send tanks and soldiers to take over his farm

I think in WEST we must soon or later be ready to accept a fair trade, in future more and more countries will not be any more ready to be our low price gas station

of course the stupid war in Iraq and Bush's daily plans for new wars also have a big impact on oil price

It's not about Iraq anymore anyway... that shockwave has rolled on and doesn't play a significant part in the scheme of oil things. It would take a noticably large (ie. VERY public) attack and disruption of the oil operations going on in Iraq to affect oil prices (the low-level conflict generates a minimum of market fear as long as it stays low-level). No, other things are affecting it now...

It all has to do with Ms. Johnson and if little Johnny makes it to the national tiddlywinks competition this year. Or was it Mr. Jones and if he cuts his grass... no, that was last quarter...now I remember, it's Mrs. Diego and if she decides on generic or name brand paper towels...

I imagine if he's driving a car like that, gas prices are the least of his worries.

NY too high - NJ better

It jumped to $3.19 to $3.29 for regular and as high as $3.59 for Premium on the South Shore of LongIsland, NY
I drove to Ramsey, NJ the other day and gas was as low as $2.79 for regular and $2.99 for Premium
Ouch, it's getting to expensive to drive - score one for mass transit.

I might want to update the price for where I get gas. The regular gas price fell from around $2.87 to $2.82 today according to my mom, who filled her car up today. But I hear on the news that the current national average for gas is now at $2.92.
