We had 2 weeks off for the New Year but due to the Virus, school was closed for around 4 weeks (depended on where you are in Vietnam, big city like Ho Chi Minh had an infected case so students could stay at home longer than those in other provinces - except Vinh Phuc province which had the highest numver of cases by that time.

- Everything seemed to be fine and in around a week we could declare safe from the pandemic when things got a big turn.

- Paitient no.17 started the new increase in cases. Schools are forced to close and we have online tests and homework (Vietnamese state school students are not used to this and the connection aren't the best either). So we have more weeks of. Currently, it is my 7th week off (not including Lunar New Year Holiday) from school and I think that the country did a great job preventing the spreading of the virus.

- There is an order to close ALL cinema, theater, bars, clubs,... Supermarkets and malls remain open and not many people there.

- Situation is much better in Ho Chi Minh: adults still go to work normally, the streets are less crowded than usual since students stay at home, the Gym where I go to, however, a bit more crowded (I always choose the time when nobody there to go).
- In Hanoi, where reported more cases had more restrictions.

- Vietnamese people always wear masks in order to protect themselves safe, and if infected with virus before tested positive, can save the whole community.
Gyms are closed here as well, since they know Virus is spreading by Drops (tearns, Sweat etc) and Gyms are too crowded, so people get easily infected. Actually everything is closed here unless it is for daily life.

Masks have proven to give people a wrong safety feeling, they actually dont protect really but only reduce you to spread something a little bit. Futhermore you would need to Change them after every usage.

True, I am planing to use time to add parts of Collection to eBay possibly and also to clean up and build up my Plane Room with the big models. Maybe Posting some pics once done. Still thinking About adding old 70ies or 80ies Airline Posters to the Wall.....lets see.

Make the best and most of it to be home and with Family, if you have the Chance.
You cant Change it and I am sure it will get worse, that we possibly also getting curfews here. It is under discussions and actually makes sense, but then they really Need to send most People home from work, not just voluntariliy by the companies.

Re: Life at Covid-19 time.

Well, Ive lost my job. Emirates (and pretty much every other airline) has pulled out of my airport for the next few months. Going to be a tricky few months money wise but hopefully its temporary.

On the plus side, it will provide me with an abundance of free time to work on my airports, something I have had very little time to do having worked full time for the last 3 or so years.

Hope everyone is keeping well!

So sorry for you man. Things are really difficult indeed... hopefully this situation will be over sooner than expected.

Many people fear this is just the beginning here, and soon the situation will get worse. I hope not...
Update: things are getting more strict now.
The governor of my state have now ordered the closure of shopping malls, cinemas, theaters, stores... for 10 days. Only supermarkets, hospitals and gas stations are allowed to keep operating. International flights were suspended aswell.

Streets are now quite empty. I'm doing my part by staying at home. Plenty of food and Netflix available

But in my opinion, it's better wearing a mask to protect yourself and the community, though it is not 100% safe but it reduces the chance of infecting quite a lot. If the situation got worse, the gym would be closed. Most of new cases in Vietnam are international arrivals (many European tourists (UK, Latvia,..) (and yes mang tourists don't wear mask so locals are quite angry about this) nor people (students) arrived from the UK). All international arrivals have to be quarantined for 14 days. Vietnam Airlines - the flag carrier - has completely stopped all international flight. Some humanitarian flights are performed to bring strained students from Europe back home. At the time of writing, the number of cases in Vietnam is 85, with all 9 new cases from yesterday are international arrival passengers (an American flown on Turkish Airlines, a Vietnamese from Paris, 7 Vietnamese from UK). That's the statistic.

Sorry to hear, hope things will improve again soon. But frankly, dont see it happen too soon.

For me same, I had lost/quit my Job in October and usually spring is a good time to jump in again…..but not now anymore, since shipping is also hit by the turmoil. So have to wait for better times as well, not easy thinking with a wife and newborn at home

LOL, Leo...I think that is what many here think/thought as well.
They start to reduce the Streaming Speed though now (EU have asked some of these Providers), since so many People have to do home Office and the Net is getting slow...

Still cant understand that People (especially younger ones) are so crazy and stupid doing Corona Parties or doing the Sping Break in Florida still with an absoulte stupid and selfish attitude. They say: "If I get it, I dont mind, it is no Problem for younger People." Well, who cares if you idiot get it, but you spread it to weaker ones...morons.
But this seems to be our world in great parts….selfish, egoism, no solidarity or common sense.

Indeed...complete je*ks.

Believe it or not....today we had the first instance that thieves stole TOILET PAPER from a closed car. I liked the comment of the police though to car owners : "DON'T leave valuables in your car, you should know that ! "

Absolutely weird as well...some People started to fist fight on the parking lots of supermarkets About the "white Gold" (formerly known as toilet paper). But thank god there are also absolute normal People who are offering help to those in Need and who cant go out.

Stay safe everyone and hope you are all keeping well.

Re: Life at Covid-19 time.

Are we supposed to believe this has spread from China purely because people have traveled from there? The massive amount of cases in Italy and Spain, thousands of mile from Asia, seems to me like a biological bomb was released.

Yes, I guess so...the Marsians want to invade Italy and Spain and take over Iberia and Alitalia

Many infos about this, it is really difficult to have an idea of where sci-fi stops and reality starts. October 2019, Mondial Military Games at Wuhan, Covid-19 spreaded at Wuhan by someone paid by USA to destabilize Chinese economy...this is the most common "conspiracy news"; the second is that Covid-19 is a virus laboratory-created to check people: old people (a real "problem" for each society from the economic point of view) die, young people forced to stay at home, weak economies destroyed and ready to be "bought"...
Well, the only thing i know is that nobody knows well this new virus and nobody knows if it is yet another Chinese "present" because of some anachronistic and dangerous food habits (like eating bats, dogs, cats, snakes and so on); the only well known thing is that Ebola, HIV, SARS, MERS, H1N1 and now Covid-19 are all virus coming from specific animals (bats, monkeys, snakes, etc.) and that they change once human eats these animals.
