Last night i flew to Colombo, Sri Lanka and back, a very long flight and mostly over water so what to do? Take pictures of course!
As we exited ETOPS and approached the Southern Indian coast to cross over at Cochin, unfortunately it was very hazy so i couldn't see much of the coastline, just a very long white beach and then nothing again!
After landing in Colombo we were made to vacate the runway at the very end and wait on the taxiway since we were about 25 minutes early and the gate was stil occupied, here is a Sri Lankan A330 also waiting for its stand to become available, whilst just to the right, you can see the landing lights of another Sri Lankan A330 taking off
Once we had finally arrived at our gate, i took the opportunity to get some fresh air and check to see if the fuel truck had actually started to fuel us yet! Also in the background you can see the tail of a Qatar A340-600 which landed after us, vacated at a taxiway before us and got to its gate first!
Unfortunately the best picture i could get of the very Southern tip of India was in the pitch black, but yeah, i promise that's the tip of india!
On the way back i decided to play with the pro mode on my phones camera, an exposure time of 10 seconds yields some nice stars but an aeroplane is rarely not bumping around a tiny bit, so some stars are double exposed, second is a picture as we approached Muscat after crossing the Omani coast with a 4 second exposure, once again because of the bumps and the movement of the aeroplane, the lights on the ground are quite blurry... Must try harder!
And finally a slightly less blurry shot of Muscat from the South... Enjoy!
