Re: Should the UK stay in the EU?

The BBC get millions in subsidies from the EU each year, so don't expect any impartial coverage from them.

Why?,apparently we're exempt from uk taxes (when it suits),like i said on another post about the eu,all countries are allowed to govern their own countries as long as it suits others...

Edit: Why can't the BBC use adverts instead of using everyone as cash cows, the day's of VR and when the world map was pink have long gone...

It's a matter of time. Their reporting has become so predictable and biased on so many different subjects recently I have almost given up watching anything on BBC.

Hm....a BRIT Icon. Sold to your evil enemy of 2 world wars, then sold to the US and then finally owned and being built by your former colony.... Very iconic....

Dont get me wrong Vince, I see where you are coming from....but that is what I meant to split between heart and brain. To reduce it to only picked things like this....while possibly you find one good for every bad issue.
I dont agree with everything happening there, but England hasnt been perfect before it joined the EC as well. So what....there has been good and bad before and after for all countries.
I think it is really important that europe is united economically to give a counterweight to US and Asia. Alone, none will survive or improve, possibly not even Germany.

PS: Where do you guys all have the info the Defender is not built anymore from ? Unless I am completely wrong this is not true, so I cant follow that Argument at all.

Yep it's a Brit icon the same as an E Type Jag,Morgan or a Royal Enfield motorbike and i never said the uk was perfect...Tbh i don't really give a monkeys about the eu (as i said before apart from a few countries)...

Edit: I've been trying to work out a way to reply to the first part...."sold to your evil enemy etc, etc",first off it's one of the most ridiculous sentences i've ever read...Being German i take it you're proud of BMW,Merc's etc,so why don't you buy a Cherokee if you're not happy with Brit build quality or you could try a German built 4x4...

Re: Should the UK stay in the EU?

Baffled about the Defender also. For years we used to receive a 110 chasis which our workshop armoured. Now we have two new models based on the 110 Defender which are factory armoured and we are still receiving new vehicles. They are made by Penman and Ovik, so at the very least the chasis and engine are being produced

Google Landrover Defender and you'll find production stopped at the end of January...

Furry maybe it's because they're classed as specialist vehicles or Landrover kept some back for that purpose...If i remember right when Chevy stopped production of the Caprice they kept a lot back for use by police depts because they were 'Full Size' vehicles...

Re: Should the UK stay in the EU?

The LR Defender argument is such a non issue. It literally effects no one in any sizable manor and it certainly isn't a point to be used for the EU referendum argument. The vehicle is incapable of meeting certain emission/NCAP criteria so naturally you're going to get R&D to make a more environmentally friendly and safer vehicle (albeit the DC100 looks naff). You're arguing against safety if you're using this as an argument for your Brexit support.

Why would i want to use it for Brexit, all i was trying to do was convince Speedbird it had stopped production...Hopefully now i've told him to google it he'll realise it's been out of production for over three months...

It wasn't aimed at you, it was current topic in the thread. But seeing as it was being brought up in general in the thread thought I'd say something on the matter.

edit: I'm sure I saw an article saying it was back in production after it being upgraded to meet NCAP criteria but I can't for the life of me find any source on it.

Vince, interesting....german reading Google page was updated recently, saying production stopped in Jan 2016 once and for all, as you said.

when I looked at it info wasnt there and more interesting is that the Defender was (and is still on the german Landrover Homepage, as if you could buy it still. Bit misleading....
That is why I thought we have 2 different Infos now and wasnt sure which one is correct. So apologies from my side, your info is right.

The replacement is due at the end of the year so anyone care to guess what it'll look like...
