After 8 months, I'm finishing a big batch of World tails. Ten are already finished, so, here they are! The first is an A320-100, registered G-BUSD, 1997 - World tail "Union Flag" colors. The real machine was delivered new to British Airways on July 1988, wearing "Landor" colors, named "Isle of Mull", she got the Union Jack livery on April 2001. Got "Backing the Bid" titles (for London 2012 Olympic Games) on July 2004, Withdrawn from the fleet on October 2006, she was scrapped at QLA on February 2007, her fuselage cut into several sections and sold.

The second is a Comair 727-200Adv, reg. ZS-NOV, 1997 - World tail "Delftblue Daybreak" colors. The real metal was delivered new to Condor, as D-ABKL, on December 1975, left Condor on November 1989. She went to Noble Air on March 1990, registered TC-AFE, then to Tur Avrupa Hava Yollari, as TC-TCB, on March 1992. Finally she was taken by Safair on December 1994, reregistered ZS-NOV. Safair leased her to several airlines: Sabre Airways (Apr - May 95), Sun Air (Oct 95 - Feb 96), Inter-Air (Feb 96 - Jun 96), Comair (Sep 96 - Apr 02) and finaly Kulula.com (Apr - Jun 02). She was scrapped at JNB on July 2002.

The third is a 747-200B, registered G-BDXB, 1997 - World tail "Union Jack" colors. The real machine was delivered to British Airways on June 1977, as the second of the type, in "Negus" colors, named "City of Liverpool"; she received the "Landor" livery in late 80s; she was leased to Nigeria Airways between November 1999 and August 2000 for the London - Lagos route jointly with BA. Once back to BA, she was the only 747-200 painted in "Union Jack" livery; she left the fleet on October 2001, since 2003 she is preserved at Xiamen.

The fourth is a 747-200B, registered G-BDXG, 1997 - World tail "Bomsterang" colors. The real machine was delivered to British Airways on June 1978 in "Negus" colors, named "City of Oxford", got the "Landor" livery in late 80s; She was painted in "Blomsterang" arround 1998. In February 2002 she was taken by European Air Charter (pink stripe); leased to Saudi Abrabian (Jan - May 2003), she was painted in a partial Saudi livery, once back she was painted in EAC new livery. She was retired from use in 2004 and scrapped on May 2008 at BOH.

The fifth is an A320-200, reg. G-BUSK, 1997 - World tail "Waves and Cranes" colors. she was delivered on October 1990, as the last of ten CFM56 engined A320s, in "Landor" livery, was painted in "Waves and Cranes" on October 1997 and finally to the standardized "Union Flag" livery on January 1996. Withdrawn and stored on April 2011, broken up on April 2012 at LDE.

The sixth is a British Mediterranean Airways A320-200, registered G-MEDB, 1997 - World tail "Rendezvous" colors. The 1/1 scale plane was delivered to China Airlines on November 1994, as 3B-RGY; was taken by British Mediterranean on March 1997, reregistered G-MEDB and left the fleet on March 2002 and stored. Went to Indian Airlines on March 2003, as VT-EYA; To Sky Wings Airlines, reg. SX-BTP, on February 2011. Leased to RAK Airways (Feb - Jun 12) and to NAS Air (Jun - Aug 12); To Khors Aircompany, reg. UR-CKS, leased to Zagros Air Sep 13, regeristered EP-ZAI on Dec 13; To Iran Aseman Airlines on Jun 17, reregistered EP-APJ on Sep 17. She was stored at IKA between Feb 18 and Jun 19. Active.

The seventh is a 757-200, registered G-CPEN, 1997 - World tail "Union Flag" colors. She was delivered new to British Airways on April 1997, in "Landor" livery, received "Union Flag" colors on June 1999, left the fleet on December 2009, stored at LHR until May 2011. Then taken by FedEx and stored at VCV on June 2011; converted to freighter on May 2012, registered N952FD, named "Roxanna". Active.

The eighth is a 767-300ER, registered G-BWND, 1997 - World tail "Emmly Ndebele" colors. She was delivered new to British on February 1990, wearing "Landor" colors and named "City of Copenhagen"; she was painted in World tail livery on February 1999, Stored at MHV between March 2002 and May 2003, back to service on September 2003, repainted in "Union Flag" livery on November 2004. Retired from use on December 2014 and stored at CWL until January 2015, then ferried and stored at VCV since January 2015.

The ninth is a 767-300ER, registered G-BWNU, 1997 - World tail "Blomsterang" colors. Whiskey Uniform was delivered new to British on March 1993, in "Landor" colors (ship name not found). She received the 1997 - World tail colors on July 1998, then repainted in "Union Flag" colors on August 2004. She left the fleet on April 2014 and was ferried and stored at VCV on since May 2014.

The tenth and last of the batch is a 767-300ER, registered G-BZHA, 1997 - World tail "Wings" colors. She was delivered new to BA on May 1998. She was was repainted in "Union Flag" livery around September or October 2005. She left the fleet on 25 November 2018 after performing the last flight of the type for British Airways and is stored at DGX since then.

That checks out. Unfortunately, even though it's... "Preserved" it looks to be in pretty bad shape. :(

Such an excellent batch of BA World Tails! I really liked the idea, too bad Mrs. Thatcher didn't :lol:

Sadly, the Jumbo BDXB is indeed in bad shape at Xiamen airport.

That's a lot of great customs there Sergio! The iconic World Tails by BA are absolutely well represented in this batch, not only including a lot of different tails but also a lot of different aircraft. I didn't even know BA used to have CFM56 powered A320s.. You learn something new every day!

Lookds bad indeed. If they dont have any use for it, I will see if I can free up some space here :lol:


Actually I own that very plane in 1:36, she used to be in the BA HQ before they phased her out. Very rare as Sergio said, only one in Union Flag.


Nice job Sergio, while Landor is unbeatable, these liveries are still proving to be popular or interesting 20 years later.

Thanks! BA had 10x CFM56 engined A320s, 5x -100 (G-BUSB~F) and 5x -200 (G-BUSG~K), all scrapped.
