Playboy DC-9-30 1/500

Here's a special custom I wanted to make: Playboy Enterprises DC-9-30 in 1/500 scale. The real one was purchased by Hugh Hefner in 1969 and was the world's biggest bizjet at that time. Mr. Hefner spent $1 milion to install a luxury cabin. Was sold in mid 70s to Aeropostal and finally ended it's life with Aeromexico in 2004.

PT-TAA Delta Air Lines custom models

Now it's the turn of the regional turboprops! The first one is a Delta Connection/ASA ATR-72-200, reg. N635AS, 1/500 scale. The 'Flot' colors is one of my favourite liveries of Delta, together with the 'Widget'.
I've replaced the original main landing gear with more detailed ones (scratchbuit), added the front gear doors and painted the wheels hubs, in the same way I did with the CO Express ATR-42, pls see http://www.wings900.com/vb/custom-mo...2-1-500-a.html

American Freighter 747-100 1/500

This is one of the easiest customs I've made to date, was a kind of a relaxing one between all my commitments with much more complexes ones. Sure a little dream come true, I wanted this one since circa two years ago. Here's an American Freighter 747-100(SF), reg. N9672 in 1/500 scale. The original was delivered brand new to AA in 1971 and carried passengers for five years until being converted to a freighter in 1977. She fits perfectly to my AA collection.:tt1:

Paa a320-200 1/500

This is my first and probably will be the only fantasy custom I've ever made: here's the Pan Am A320-200 reg. N320PA, named 'Clipper Mercury'. A special request for my friend Flightfan. Pan Am is know to have ordered a batch of A320s, but it's bad financial situation (and closure) prevented this to become reality. Enjoy!

Many thanks, mate! I've detached wings, stabs and fin to give a coat of paint, then I reatached all pices back to the fuselage. Then I've applied the corroguards decals, all the fuselage markings and then the emergency marks over the wings.
I'll send a PM to you later because I have to leave now.

Actually, friends, TWA ordered A330s at first, but later canceled that order. The A318s were just ordered so that they wouldn't loose their deposit for the A330s.

Northwest Orient DC-10-40 1/500

Hi,
this one is a long desired model for my collection but finally is slowly taking shape, a Northwest Orient DC-10-40, reg. will be N143US. This custom has also the purpose to test complex masking/painting for my future NW projects and the use of larger resin parts. In fact the -40 tail is really similar to the MD-11 tail (bulged n.2 engine nacelle), so it was necessary to remove the donor's tail to replace with a resin made one. The wing nacelles were removed too, they need some modification works. The painting result is good, but was dificult to mask, and as I've expected, the white stripe was too high, so I had to carefully remove the excess paint using the decal as reference. Now it's correct and will serve as template to make the masking for the next NW DC-10s.

Thanks Bert! The belly paint is indeed the difficult part of this custom, because there's a light blue line that must fit to it. And of course the tail decal, as you know I don't like decals that covers the whole tail.:envy:

I think I might start with either a Westjet or Volaris custom, as these are relatively easy to accomplish compared to Jetblue for instance.

Many thanks!

@Mr. AeroMexico:
For this one the donor was TED A320. But if you haven't experience in making customs my advice is to begin with simplier ones, the Jetblue isn't an easy custom.

Nice work Sergio but where did you get all those little ceramic tiles to do the mosaic tail art? What tile grout did you use?, he he. Bet it's a bit tail heavy as a result.
Well done matie
Mike

Ha, you discovered my secret! I had to glue one by one, the tile grout is a secret recipe from 100 generations!:envy:
Kidding appart, many thanks for your appreciation, and the tail is already quite heavy, it's a common A320 fault, mainly on NG II mould.

This one was the very first time I've painted a custom, together with the Tarom Tu-154. It was you that introduced me to the dark side...:envy:

PT-TAA (Sergio) FedEx customs.

Here's the FedEx A310-300F custom, reg. N807FD, in 1999 colors, 1/500 scale. Not an easy one to make, the masking of the purple area was quite diffficult. She will be a nice company to my FedEx MD-11 trio, two other FedEx customs will be made next year.

Looks great!

I've just go one question: Since i have very little custom experience, how could the purple area be difficult to mask? No offence, but it looks quite simple.

There was a Lysia release, but i've never found it. Also there are a fair bit of FedEx MD-11s from various manufacturers in NG.

North American 767-300 1/500

This one was finished a month ago but I had to keep hidden until the owner received her (it's a surprise!;)). Here's the North American 767-300ER, smartly registered N767NA, 2000s colors, in 1/500 scale. Wasn't an easy one to make, I had to add the lower part of the doors (white) and had to mix black and blue until I was satisfied enough with the hue, but maybe Glossy Sea Blue used on Us Navy during the 50s could be the right color. For this reason this is a one of kind custom. In any case I like her livery very much!:tt1:

Allthough North American isn't one of my favorite liveries, there is only one way to describe this: beautiful!

Allegiant MD-80 1/500

Here's my next finished custom, an Allegiant Air MD-83, reg. N865GA, in 2003 colors. I must say that I somewhat under-estimated this colorful scheme, now I like very much. She looks very sexy, with those red wingtips and and black overwing markings even more!:tt1: Unfortunally this will remain as one of kind, because the donors are really hard to find and quite expensive...:(
