Re: Mamunti´s Collection

OK, the Portugal batch has arrived.
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210709_200423716.jpg

Qantas link B717 (previous livery)
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210709_200107244.jpg
Very nice relative recent model. Not easy to find. Complement nicely my fleet of Qantas link models.

TAP A330-900
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210709_200135646.jpg
Very nice model. Just wanted a standard livery (or close to standar livery) of a TAP a330neo and what best to add the first a330 that service a revenue flight. Not as easy to find but this Portuguese seller from ebay still have a few at a good price. And his shipment is cheaper to Spain that any seller from Germany or Netherland .

DHL A330-200F
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210709_195823824.jpg
Very nice recent model. It is getting harder to find but still out there. My third DHL model, and second a330-200F

Antonov Airlines AN-124
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210709_195606077.jpg
Recent Herpa model, but surprisingly not as easy to find as I thought. Bought it to complete the Antonov airlines aircraft in the recent livery (an-22, an-124 and an-225). Very nice model. Second An-124 of my collection.

I have to admit, this was suppose to be the last batch but some options in Herpa store and a opportunities on Ebay, make me add three more models, and with the future release of 26+ models that I bet some are in my preorder list… my wallet is screaming right now .

Re: Mamunti´s Collection

The QantasLink Boeing 717 was a long wanted model for me after a flight back in 2014.
I was very happy once it was announced in 2015 and released more than a year later.
Had the pleasure to fly again in 2017 and in 2020 in the special "Tasman Devil" livery from Tasmania to Sydney. Nice model!!

Re: Mamunti´s Collection

The B717 is the most beautiful especially because of the almost perfect mould.
I know you, like me, would like a Volotea with that mould...

I would love a Volotea´s 717 (I wouldn’t be mad for a Volotea´s a319 either ) or a re-release of Hawaiian´s 717 along with the a321Neo (hadn’t been able to buy the old ng model )

Re: Mamunti´s Collection

Congrats on the arrivals! Not a fan of the A330-900 mould in 1:500, it doesn't do the real plane justice. The TAP livery suits it very nice though. The Qantas 717 is a lovely bird that I hope will keep on flying for a few more years.

Re: Mamunti´s Collection

Ok one of the opportunities “aircraft” from ebay has just arrived; this time it just one model and is a special one that I never flew in but I being inside of one of the High fidelity Replica. And because get the exact model of what i went into will be very hard, I will make and exception an put this model with the Concorde prototype to the being inside/flew in models par of the collection. Because of this, the model will have a little more of a story as with some of the first aircraft that I share.

OV-105 Space Shuttle Endeavour
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210712_101840124.jpg
As an Avgeek I was always impressed with the orbiter; and been able to visit Central Florida and Kennedy Space Center while the space shuttle programs were still running is a fond experience that I have in my memories. Funny enough, I had visit Florida and been in Orlando when a launch had taken place, but, my parents and I never went to see the lift-off live, the closest I had been to a launch was that one year that we visit Kennedy Space Center the NASA bus tour could not go to the launch sites, because well one was been occupied by Space Shuttle and have restricted access to the area; I remember at most you could see the tower at a distance and identify the Disposable external tank and one of the Solid Rocket Boosters.

But available to visit and enter in the Visitor Complex of Kennedy Space Center was a scale 1/1 High fidelity model called Space Shuttle Explorer, that you could enter and see all the details of the crew compartment and mission bay area; that is the model that I enter. After the end of Space Shuttle program and the Opening of shuttle exposition in the visitor complex (With the Atlantis as a center piece), the Explorer went to Houston, renamed Independence, and now sit on top of SCA 905 (one of the modified 747 used to transport Space shuttle).

In general right now if you want to see a space shuttle in USA you have several options:

Space capable Orbiters
  • Discovery – On the Annex of the Smithsonian Space & Air Museum in DC
  • Atlantis – On the visitor complex of Kennedy Space Center in FL
  • Endeavour– California Science Center in LA
  • Columbia & Challenger - The cockpit widows and a part of the fuselage are on expo in the memorial of the missions in the Kennedy Space Center visitor complex beside the Atlantis

No space capable orbiters but used in the program for several testing
  • Enterprise – On the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in NYC (was originally in the Annex of the Smithsonian Space & Air Museum but was swap for the Discovery when that one was retired)
  • Pathfinder - U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Alabama

1/1 Models
  • Independence (former Explorer)- In Houston in Independence Plaza on top of SCA 905
  • Inspiration – Hollow 1/1 model on the Shuttle landing facility in Florida
(I know there are other models, but this are the only one that I know are somehow associated with NASA expo or in NASA grounds)

The Herpa Space Shuttle models in general are hard to find and goes for a high price, I found this a relative good price but without a box. I whish I have a SCA with the shuttle also in the last livery (There is also a model with the first livery), but the prices of that model are in general very high, comparable to a Singapore a380 or the NASA SOFIA 747SP.

I add a pictures of how I saw the Explorer when I went into (It is not my picture, it is a Wikipedia picture) and how it looks now (also a Wikipedia picture).

Re: Mamunti´s Collection

Ok finally I can make an update of my collection because the arrival of an order of two club models that I made from Herpa Shop, the first ever order directly from them. I have to thanks Marvin, because his message in available models threads started everything.

This order took some time to pass customs (don’t ask me why a package from the Netherlands have to pass Spanish Customs, I have no Idea the internal process to justify it being held for almost two weeks)

TWA MD-83 “Wings of pride”
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210726_123938438.jpg
This aircraft I am pretty sure saw it in real life when traveling in the US when it was active service. Always found it striking the inverse colors, and this being a herpa club model it have the extra details. Still available in Herpa Shop and a good price so I will said is easy to find.

Garuda A330-900Neo “Let's Wear Masks”
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210726_123838139.jpgMamunti´s Collection-img_20210726_124055374.jpg
I was about to order the regular Garudas A330-900 when Marvin wrote the message of this model available in Herpa Shop, so I decided to buy this version instead. Love the extra details and a perfect complement the Cargolux 747-8F “Not Without My Mask” to remember the 2020. Love the few extra details and the price in Herpa shop is the same as the standard model. At this moment is easy to find, but I think the best price to buy it is at Herpa Shop, my regular shop (scalemodelstore) sell it but for 4 more Euros Than Herpa + Shipment.

Waiting for more releases by Herpa (or not being able to extend my reserve of the KC-10 any more) to pull the trigger for more models. Also trying to finish the purchase of a couple of Iberia airplanes (in old livery) to complete my collection. So that might be that the next update with new aircraft will be in a few weeks.

And another good news it appears that Herpa solve the problem of the flexed wings, or at least minimize the error.

I add a comparison photo of the Garuda "Masked" and Azul a330-900Neo so we can see the difference.

Re: Mamunti´s Collection

The wingflex on the updated A330-900 looks so much better. The Azul A339 looks ridiculous in comparison. Furthermore the added details on the Garuda bird, including the mask, look very good. Just hope that we don't need to wear them for much longer.

Agreed! That Azul wingflex is really awful. The Garuda looks fine

Re: Mamunti´s Collection

I just received two aircraft that I bought on eBay on July, but because of my vacation I deferred the shipment to be made when I were back home. This are two old Iberia livery aircraft that were missing from my collection.

Air Nostrum (Iberia Regional) CRJ-900
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210830_203939915.jpg
Very nice Herpa model, and the extra Comunitat Valenciana details in the livery are very well archive. I saw this plane a lot in Madrid in my travels. I Found it on eBay and got it at a very Good Price, but in general is not easy to find.

Iberia 767-300
Mamunti´s Collection-img_20210830_204027239.jpg
Very nice inflight500 model. This is one of two of the 767 that Iberia flown, never saw in real life (at least that I remember), but I have to complete my Iberia’s models in 1/500 with this model. I Found it on eBay and got it at a very Good Price at the same time as the crj-900, but in general is not easy to find.

As you can probably guess I have a close relation to this airline, and I think is one of the two Airlines that I have flown the most in my life (is a close call between Iberia and American Airlines ).

I Still wish there were more models of Iberia, I know my collection is missing a Herpa A321 in new decorations (the one I have is a custom) or the old livery DC-9. I know there are other special liveries like “Feliz Navidad” 747-200 or a340-300 or the National Football team special livery a330, but in general I am not a fan of this special liveries.

Re: Mamunti´s Collection

Seeing this Iberia livery again.. It was such a good one! Maybe I'm biased though from vacationing in Spain ever since I was 5 years old and thus very familiar with Iberia's iconic livery. Heck they even did the ground services at Alicante for Transavia in the early 2000s. Neat models, shame the livery has been replaced with a duller version!

Sorry for the late reply. But I agree with you Thom that the old Iberia livery was iconic as it can get and serve the airline for a long long time, I was so used to flying in them and seeing them around (Specially in CCS and MAD); but I have to confess I also like the new livery (for some personal reasons) but I have to admit is kind of generic.

For me the old Iberia and old AA livery are as iconic as it can get to those respective airlines.

Definitely I am also bias in this topic

...and the Iberia B757-200 was one of the most elegant airplane + livery of the sky!
