While this livery is nice, it's really bland when compared to the first "Spirit of Hong Kong": B747-200 B-HIB.
Oops! Silly mistake on my part I'll post the more exciting SOHK 2013 next for comparison.

I'm trying to picture how it would look with the new livery if they made it cucumber green like the other SOHK aircraft. A bit weird maybe...

Re: Cedric's Collection

Cathay Pacific B777-300ER (Spirit of Hong Kong 2013 livery) – Hogan 1:500

This time the 3rd SOHK aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER reg. B-KPB. It started flying with CX in 2007 and was painted in the SOHK livery in 2013 which it wore until 2018. After leaving CX, it went to Nordwind Airlines in Russia. The colorful design looks great on the small model and the box is pretty nice too. Only minor issues are that the model is fitted with RR Trent 800 engines which are a tad smaller (instead of the GE90 for ER models), and the lack of over-wing exit markings (as with all CX -300/ER 1:500 models).

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a nice video of how the design came to be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4JCSmmeVXM

Next will be some of my Delta models.

Re: Cedric's Collection

Great photos of the Cathay 777-300ER B-KPF. I also own the model, which happens to be my only Cathay 1:500 model, and I'm very pleased to have it apart from the flaw in the engines!

I think the tail wouldn't look as good, but that's just an opinion!

Yeah, I agree. Both green fuselage and tail would be a bit odd.

KPF has the correct engines, so it’s all good. I believe it’s only KPB which has the incorrect RR engines. It’s only noticeable when you put it next to another model.

Delta Airlines B727-200 N515DA – Herpa 1:500 (OG)
Delta Airlines B757-200 N608DA – Herpa 1:500

I enjoy collecting classic liveries so here’s some of my Delta Airlines models.

I love the widget livery but unfortunately don’t have many in my collection. N515DA flew from 1978 to 2002, its whole career with Delta. This was a Wings Club Model for the year 2000. It would be nice if it was remade into a NG model with polished belly, but not holding much hope…

N608DA started flying in 1985. From 2005 to 2006 it flew with Song (Delta’s low cost carrier). It later went back to Delta until retirement in 2013. Since then, it was repainted in the Widget livery and preserved at the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta. I absolutely love the polished metal belly.

I wished I had a Delta Tristar and MD-11 to add to my classic models but that’s one to keep looking for.

Re: Cedric's Collection

Delta Airlines B777-200ER N864DA (Soaring Spirit) – Sky500

A bit less of a classic this one. Compared to the widget scheme, I’m not a huge fan of the “Colours in Motion” livery but I find it looks nice with the special livery, since the whole tail part is covered. N864DA first flew in 1999 and is currently stored (I guess soon to be retired due to current events). For the 2002 Winter Olympics at its Salt Lake City hub, it was painted in the “Soaring Spirit” colors we see here. I believe at that time Sky500 used the Aero500 mould for 777s (let me know if I’m wrong). And while many 777s in 1:500 have their main gears simplified, this one has it correct by having the main strut, side brace and drag brace (see photos)

Re: Cedric's Collection

Nice batch of Delta models Cedric, the widget livery might be their most iconic livery. I'm also not the biggest fan of the Salt Lake City 77L's livery, but it's a nice way to collect a Delta 77L!

Re: Cedric's Collection

Some United models now. I like to collect old liveries so I bought these to try and have as many of United’s liveries from the jet age as possible.

United Airlines B747-100 N4735U (4 Star Friendship) - Big Bird 1:500

United Airlines DC10-30 N1858U (Battleship Grey) - Herpa 1:500

United Airlines B777-200 N772UA (Rising Blue) - Aero500

United Airlines Saul Bass Models - Dragon Wings and Jet-X 1:400

Ok, I’m cheating a bit here but I don’t have any Saul Bass 1:500 and wanted to complete the lineup of liveries.

Re: Cedric's Collection

Those are some diverse United models Cedric! The 747-100 is an iconic model in its Friendship livery, but my favourite has to be the 777-200 Tulip livery. I loved seeing that livery, especially on the 767-300 without winglets, over the years. The 767-300 looked very good in United's livery without winglets.

Do continue sharing your fleet Cedric!

Will do. I got some new models recently so I’m looking forward to posting some photos.

Re: Cedric's Collection

Tulip is the best one also for me, not only for United Airlines but also among all the liveries of the sky. So pity it wasn't chosen for the new United.

That’s true. It seems to be hard for airlines to have a colourful yet elegant livery but this one is both. The Herpa 767-200 in Saul Bass livery would be a good addition for my collection.

Re: Cedric's Collection

Cloudy with a Chance of (Continental) Meatballs

Here’s some Continental Airlines models. Now it’s all part of United Airlines since the merger

Continental Airlines B707-300 N17328 (Black Contrails) - Inflight500
Continental’s Meatball liveries are some of my favourite. I guess at that time a lot of the US airlines had awesome colour schemes. This one was delivered to Continental in 1967 and flew until 1986 when it was scrapped. Livery looks great on the 707!

Continental Airlines A300B4 N970C (Red Contrails) - Herpa 1:500
This plane first flew in 1983. It started flying with Continental Airlines and ended its career with Air Contractors sporting a DHL livery. It was destroyed when operating flight QY6321 in 2012 on landing in Bratislava when the nose gear collapsed and the aircraft skidded off the runway.

Continental Airlines B757-200 N17128 (Globe) - Starjets 1:500 (Produced for Skyjets 400)
This plane was delivered to Continental in 1998 and was in service until just recently. As of May this year, it is now being stored. It also now has winglets added.

Here’s a question for the more experienced collectors. This is the version produced for Skyjets 400 and the bottom says “1 of 1000 pieces”, does that mean it’s “number 1” of 1000 (ie: individually numbered) or do they just all say that (ie. not individually numbered) - anyone have a model they can check against?

It’s also pretty incredible to see the sort of detail we had on this scale. The mould might not be as precise as today’s mould but the print detailing is perhaps even better with all the static ports, markings etc... and this was made in 2000 - 20 years ago!
