Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

With regards to the small amount of operators for the A330-800, they might have planned the mould when Hawaiian still had their order, Hopefully more will come down the line.

Ok, the Helvetic F100 is a must for me...flew on that very plane ZRH-DUS back in 2013, my sole F100 ride

I ask me the same. The tail have more red and there is now the EU flag at the registration. There is also now a "Smartwings Group" lettering.

The tail is very different. Previously the outline was white and the logo was red. You can see it on

Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

Well, didnt know that....even if minor change.

And what can I say....both are still ugly compared to this one !
No doubt about that....while these 2 are non liveries, this one is really connected to something.

Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

I don't find the new livery ugly, but indeed it's way inferior to the A310 livery
At least CSA didn't butcher their scheme like Austrian did...

Hm, you are unfortunately somehow right, Leo.
AUA really managed to go worse with every variant the published since the 1980ies livery. That one was, at least for me, their best. With the striking Austrian Tail and the red Arrow. And it even looks still great on the newer plane generation, as this picture shows (OK, nothing beats their DC9's or MD80's in that livery, but still ok).

But the one now with these Kiddy Style letters *ugh*

Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

Reflecting, it is strange how Herpa, in a weird and economically uncertain period like post Covid-19 pandemic and with at the horizon the danger of a new lockdown, the German manufacturer re-thinked its marketing strategy announcing...Fokker 100 and even the SSJ-100! I expected Herpa to "armor" its business producing workhorses and well selling models like Qantas, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, some Chinese airlines, all widebodies. Instead Herpa once again amazed us with "weird" choices, beautiful weird choices (because both Fokker 100 and SSJ-100 are marvellous, in my opinion), even re-starting the production of the SSJ-100!

Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

534581 Boeing 757-200 Cabo Verde "Island of Sal colors" NO
534598 Boeing 757-200 Cabo Verde "Island of Santiago colors" NO
534611 Boeing 787-9 Etihad "Choose Japan" NO - even though it's a nice livery I am not very fond of collecting special liveries
534628 DC-10-30 Finnair NO - no classics for me
534635 Airbus A330-800 Neo Kuwait Airways MAYBE - I was rather hoping for an A320neo
534642 Boeing 787-9 TUI Airways (UK) NO
534659 Airbus A330-200 Tunisair NO
534666 Boeing 737-700 Air Berlin NO - didn't know Herpa never produced a -700 in the latest livery
534673 Airbus A350-900 China Eastern NO - a little too much white for my taste
534680 Airbus A320 CSA (2020 colors) NO - I got the first version years ago and it is still one of my favourites for reasons I don't even know, guess I just like it. Also, it took me quite some time to realise there were other differences than just the grey/not grey belly
534697 Airbus A320 Neo Frontier Airlines "Flo the Flamingo" YES - beautiful surprise!
534703 Fokker 100 Helvetic YES YES YES!!!!! Being raised kinda close to Zurich and spending a lot of time at the airport I have quite some great memories of that little dutch bird. Chances are high that it will be my model of the year
534710 Superjet 100 Interjet Airlines NO
534727 Airbus A318 Saudia Royal Flight NO
534734 Frankfurt Airport, Terminal 1 Hexagon (cardboard kit) MAYBE - would make a nice little standalone diorama

All in all I am more than happy with these releases. After some unspectacular batches I will again have to spend some more money on these models . I did never expect Herpa to release a already gone Helvetic F100, I would have guessed it would rather be an Embraer. Still, I can't complain! Together with the Superjet, the A318 and the Frontier neo Herpa has put quite some surprises in this badge. Let's hope for more next time! And also fingers crossed they will be able to sell them.
