You ask Herpa for nearly every aircraft that has ever flown so statistically yes, you have a very high chance to get see a model that you requested being released. But that also doesn't mean that Herpa released that model solely because you asked for it. It can also be a pure coincidence.

Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

Surprised to see so many diverse models in here, especially from Africa. There's nothing for me though.

Also a positive surprise to see Frontier represented in 1/500 in the form of N308FR!

Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

In my opinion some elements are to emphasize:
1) Cabo Verde Airlines B757-200WL's beautiful set.
2) Herpa marketing decision to continue to produce widebodies respect narrowbodies: even if i prefer narrowbodies of many airlines (for example i would have preferred a Kuwait Airways A320neo) i understand Herpa to survive has to produce models that sell well. It is no more time to complaints, it is time to hope Herpa will survive to our dramatic times because Herpa is 1:500 scale world and without Herpa our world would disappear!
3) Herpa decision to restart SSJ-100 production: even for this wonderful, amazing model, i wrote many mails and stressed Mr. Borgmann and Mr. Kulgen a lot, really a lot. CityJet SS-100 will ever remain a dream, because of my LCY airport.
4) Herpa decision to continue the production of the Fokker 100: another beautiful mould and Helvetic is an amazing choice.
5) Tunisair A330-200 is coming after the B737-600 and the beautiful A320: it is just a drop in the ocean, but this means Herpa tries to complete the fleets, when the license allows it? Or that it is just a widebody (wonderful one) among the widebodies? This because i remember when herpa, in the years 90's, on its pamphlets was announcing the model (OG) with the caption "Herpa will produce all the fleet". And this was true for at least all the airlines produced in that period.
6) TUI Airways: a great news for me and for all collectors loving TUI World, TUi livery, leisure airlines. After the B757-200WL the B787-9, then...finally a B737-800WL?
7) The real surprise of this batch of models is this

Anyway, thanks Herpa for existing (and for "listening to us"!)

They're betting on this almost stillborn aircraft type - only two confirmed airlines so far. Not complaining that they can find reason to produce this 'rare' aircraft. But scratching my head that they don't see any reason re-tooling the MD-11, 737 classics, MD-90, etc moulds that have much more potential.

Current or old configuration? If it's the current one, it would only duplicate NoPoint.

I'm still waiting for someone to make a Japanese airport. Will all those exclusive Japanese models released, there is some market out there!

Because they don´t have to do anything for it. It´s the A330-200 body with the new wings, we could find on the A330-900neo models. They only have to put it together.

Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

534581 Boeing 757-200 Cabo Verde "Island of Sal colors" maybe (but low priority)
534598 Boeing 757-200 Cabo Verde "Island of Santiago colors" maybe (but low priority)
534611 Boeing 787-9 Etihad "Choose Japan" unsurprising and a little bit boring but maybe
534628 DC-10-30 Finnair despite the mediocre mould maybe
534635 Airbus A330-800 Neo Kuwait Airways maybe
534642 Boeing 787-9 TUI Airways (UK) maybe
534659 Airbus A330-200 Tunisair yes
534666 Boeing 737-700 Air Berlin yes
534673 Airbus A350-900 China Eastern maybe
534680 Airbus A320 CSA (2020 colors) yes
534697 Airbus A320 Neo Frontier Airlines "Flo the Flamingo" yes
534703 Fokker 100 Helvetic yes (but I shudder to think about the repaired mould)
534710 Superjet 100 Interjet Airlines yes
534727 Airbus A318 Saudia Royal Flight maybe
534734 Frankfurt Airport, Terminal 1 Hexagon (cardboard kit) maybe

The biggest surprise: Frontier.
Out of the ordinary: Cabo Verde (Two releases at the same time! Will there even be a third release under the herpa Wings Club sales pitch? And herpa sees a market for it???), DC-10-30 Finnair (nice classic, Aero500 should have done it), Fokker 100 helvetic (many years too late, since 06/19 historic); Boeing 737-700 Air Berlin (again dusting down several year old plans), SSJ 100 Interjet Airlines (finally, but unexpected in a batch that already contains so many »daring« releases), A318 Saudia Royal Flight (another »repaired mould« rerelease; god only knows what drives herpa to these kind of inscrutable releases …).

All in all a most unusual batch whose selection is hardly understandable but (personally speaking) not lacking in interest. However (as always), a big question mark hangs over the quality. Were the outdated F100 and A318 moulds »repaired« only scanty? How many pre-production samples will be made to prevent printing and colouring errors? Is herpa, particularly in these times, willing to deal with their most urgent mould problems and find a solution for let’s say… But of course not, this was only a rhetorical question.

Re: Herpa Wings News 11/12 2020

Just to make a extremely imaginative consideration, Herpa announced the Chair Airlines A319 in 1:200 scale: could it be a next model in 1:500 scale? Egyptair Express A220-300, S7 A319, Alitalia A319 and Chair Airlines A319? Herpa has got us used to scaling down 1:200 models to 1:500.

Though I personally dont like the model you mention, I have the same thought and also had a chat with Herpa about it in general. If you have the license and the mould, the likelyhood is very much higher. That is why I am very much hoping also for these 2 Beauties :

https://www.diecastmodelaircraft.com/db/model/77900

https://www.diecastmodelaircraft.com/db/model/78219

A dream would of course also be the Landor Dash 7, but that would require a complete new mould, which is VERY unlikely, especially under todays circumstances.
