Thanks Thom. DC-10 is not as big as the A380, of course, but it seems impressive because of the three engines or maybe because of its shape...it seems a giant!
Inflight500 created pieces of art.

Re: DC-10 tribute and the best DC-10 in 1:500.

I think the Thai is the most exotic--I like this livery better than the current one! Also, I had always hoped for a Northwest Orient DC-10 in original colors many early memories of flying those. Ahh, the gold old days!! So many models that I guess will never be realized in 1:500

I agree with you: a Northwest Orient DC-10 in "thermometer" livery would be great. Unfortunately, NWO only had the DC-10-40 variant in its fleet which had a #2 engine "barrel" with a shape different to the -10 or -30. An accurate -40 model would require the vertical stab mould to be modified. I doubt this will happen in 1/500.

I know you my friend, all the airplanes landing at the mythical Hong Kong "Kai Tak" airport produced in 1:500 scale!

A pretty good selection, I must say; I love the raw metal AA especially! More memories for someone who has lived in South Florida for over half their life

I already said the best is Hong Kong "Kai Tak": so many DC-10's landing and taking off, but especially the incredible landing with the dramatic final right turn!
We are missing some iconic DC-10's like Philippine Airlines and JAL, some great leisure "mules" like Premiair, Airtours, JMC, Scanair and the third French overseas territories airline, AOM (to add to Air Lib and UTA DC-10's).

Too many to name missing Ale. Just think of the african ones like Zambia Airways or Nigeria Airways, the european flag carriers JAT, Finnair, SAS (new colours) and Turkish Airlines or the Asian ones like JAL, JAA or PAL as you said. I think the major ones for US are touched, maybe apart from World Airways (of course some like Air Florida, Jet24, Hawaain Express missing, but dont count them as majors), same for for South America, where we initially only had VARIG flying DC10s and VIASA, and both are covered, the rest came later. LAP also didnt get their jets new.

But still, PLENTY to do, regardless if first customers or 2nd, 3rd or whatever hand....

Unfortunately, really unfortunately, Inflight500 no more exists and Aero500 is no more producing DC-10's so the only operator, as usually, is Herpa; Herpa started to produce good DC-10's models, but Inglight500 has been the best of the best!

Re: DC-10 tribute and the best DC-10 in 1:500.

But Aero500 did realize some last year quite a big batch, so while they dont announce nor produce visible, I always hope another model will pop up.

My opinion, Aero 500 is the best mould. The tail engine looks more detailed vs IF5.

The IF500 DC-10 mould is still alive through Herpa, so I see some chances for interesting releases in the future at an acceptable quality level.
I hope there will be a Laker some day. And a Fedex (provided there are no licensing issues), which i think would sell like hot cakes!

Laker I could well imagine...not only to make one member here very happy , but also because they were direct receiver and also, if not mistaken, went bust and were not taken over. So the thing with the licence should be easier than with a taken over airline.

A Laker DC-10 would be a home run! The airline has quite a place in Transatlantic history and the model deserves to be made. Several would find their way into my collection for sure

LAKER! LAKER! LAKER! (But Skytrain livery please!!!)

Btw: There's a new book available. I am very satisfied with it. Bought it in Germany for 21 Euro. Many Pictures inside too and a very detailed history of Sir Freddie:

Does your interest in Laker have any deeper reason or "just so" ?

Btw, where did you get that book ? I always collect history books of airlines, have one cupboard full of them next to Annual Reports & timetavles and History magazines from the airlines themself.
Makes me a bit more up to date on histories and fleets, I enjoy that flipping through the past from time to time...

So always looking for things to close gaps, but in case anyone of you needs any info, just let me know and I can take a look in my "archive"
