Re: N3424V Collection Additions

Sticking with United Airlines, I just added another model to the fleet. While Boeing birds are well represented, I lacked a certain Boeing "classic" a/c in the collection. There was no B377 Stratocruiser in the bunch.

It is the old Dragon model and it comes with all that means; big seams, simple landing gear, etc. However, the model's props are much better than some classics in the collection. Plus you have to say it is an unusual-looking bird.

Thanks for all the glimpsin' and glancin' y'all do.

Another 377 attempt. Background shots of these birds, like most "classic" airliners are hard to find.

Some interesting classics you have here Mike. I must admit, I didn't know much about the Boeing 377, but after some quick research it seems like it was a really interesting aircraft. Great job on the 'mashes too of course!

Re: N3424V Collection Additions

Thanks Cal. In your 377 research did you catch the story about the flight crew needing raincoats? I read that the moisture from the passenger cabin air conditioning collected in spaces above the flight deck and turned to ice at high altitudes. As the 377 descended, the ice melted and "rained" above the crew's seats.

Anyway, one more of the blunt-nosed beast.

That's quite the story Mike, I didn't come across this so thanks for sharing it. I'm surprised they didn't eventually revise the system to avoid the pilots having to take shower at the end of each flight! Anyway, another good 'mash with this interesting aircraft. It's cool to compare today's world of aviation to these classic scenes.

Lovely headon of the Lufthansa B747-8I! One of the most elegant airplanes still hauling passengers, with the gorgeous Korean Air 747-8I of course! Your photo reminds me it is due time for me to fly on one!!

Thanks Thom.

Funny you should mention Korean Air. The base image for the 'mash was of a Korean Air bird.

Going back to an old, but still current work horse, a Delta B767 with lots of reflections.

Great mash of the Delta 767 Mike! It looks great with the engine spirals and dropped down slats!

Sad to see the Delta Tri-Star in this condition, but this is still a beautiful 'mash regardless of the circumstances. Great job!

I've seen the L1011 at VCV in 2016 Mike, great to see it in better shape in your mash!
