Re: Did you know ???

Picture one today inspired by Vic Diesel and his Passion for the Belgian Flag carrier.

When thinking about their fleet, a regular visitor to HAM in that year came into my mind. Too bad I missed it, flew very same year with SN to London as well, but only BAe146

Second one is not belgian, but not less interesting.....These old pocket rockets were very nice for spotters, you could hear and see them still 5 minutes after take off
Nothing for Eco Fanatics I would bet

Re: Did you know ???

This one is also an interesting story:

Luxair A300B4

(image copyright Luxair)
The only Airbus operated by Luxair was an A300. It had a reversed logo on the starboard side, an order from the Luxair management! While the European aviation laughed at this, all LG aircraft were painted with the reversed logo on the starboard side - it was silently turned around again years later.
This was the result on the 747SP:
vs
(1st picture: Source, 2nd picture: wikimedia)

The A300 not only featured a wrong logo, but also wrong color: light blue instead of turquoise. The aircraft was bought from Singapore Airlines and as a result of late delivery of the correct paint by the Cargolux paint shop to Singapore, SQ had to improvise an own color mix which did not really match. The aircraft was operated from March 1985 until March 1988 between Luxembourg, Nairobi and Johannesbourg on behalf of Luxavia.

Re: Did you know ???

Maybe time to get this thread a bit to life again...watching pictures of odd or rare airplanes is very nice I think and it is always interesting what fellow members have to show....

I find this is not something really common. Alone...how many of our members have still seen Air UK at all live or know about them ? Thing of the past it is unfortunately....great Airline !

The AF DC10 I knew of, great (late) addition to the AF fleet in my opinion.

But wasnt aware that they leased an AC Tristar....see, you learn something new every day

Re: Did you know ???

The DC10 was an ex UTA and the Tristar was part of the fleet of Air Transat.

Since a week, Royal Air Maroc use this A320 leased from Nouvelair. (direct link, to credit the autors).

And finally I now Air Transat use 737 but did you know they used these colors ? Hybrid Europe Airpost (now ASL Airlines) / Air Transat.

Re: Did you know ???

Did you know Eurofly (the GREAT Eurofly, now part of Meridiana as Meridianafly...) was flying with A320, MD-80 and B767 in Alitalia livery? It was Alitalia leisure airline, years before Alitalia bought Air One becoming it the leisure airline of the Italian dying giant...
