Airbus slams B747-8 in advert

This is a double page advertisment from Airbus in the lastest issue of the german AERO magazine. Certainly a direct attack at the B747-8I, never seen this kind of marketing from Airbus before. What do you think ?

Re: Airbus slams B747-8 in advert

Wow, that's cruel, I wonder how much is actually true. Notice how they didn't show the entire 747-8 and shrunk the engines, that is because you would look at the A380 and back at the 747-8 and know the Boeing is more beautiful!

Seriously, i too wonder how much of that is true. The A380 may or may not carry 30% more passengers, but what do you think passengers want more? Taking the A380 as an example, if one was to install the same amount of seats as a 748 i think the passengers would appreciate it more. Heck, add 40 seats to that and i still think it's more appreciated than now. The 748, as far as i know, has better legroom for each passenger in all cl*****.

The interior design is entirely up to the airline. You can cram people into the same seat density on either plane. For example, some airlines put 8 seats in a row in economy, others use 9 in the 777 or 787.

When will people stop to bring up this argument in favor or against particular aircraft?

When was this last used as a design criterion for an advert?

Re: Airbus slams B747-8 in advert

At least the Boeing 747-8i dont develop wing cracks that require 8 week downtime for the necessary repairs.
No choice of engines is better than engine blowouts.

.

I've flown numerous times on the 747, they're pretty quiet. I think the noisiest plane i've been on was an Ambraer. (OT)

Like a fine wine, the 747 gets better with age.

Boeing claims they have a better fuel burn per seat. Hahaha

Well it never mentioned that the 80 uses a good amount of space on taxi or getten in between gates an all. Only a couple of airports can take an 80. I would go with the 747-8int in my oppinion.

Re: Airbus slams B747-8 in advert

Saw this in Aviation Week and Space Technology, they do the same with the 737MAX/a320NEO. I disagree with the ad about 1960's comfort standards, the fuselage may have a similar shap but the interior should be just as modern as the a380, and the 17 inch wide seats? As said before, that should be totally up to the airline, in the end the 747 8i could be much more comfortable. I really dislike these ads, they're completely irrelevant!

EDIT: On the 747 8i, why is engine No. 3 smaller then No. 4?

I agree but that's the silly argument Airbus made in their ad.
That's why people were saying the 747 can be just as spacious based on the airlines configuration.

Re: Airbus slams B747-8 in advert

If an airline wants the B747-8i or f they are going to buy it. On the contrary if an airline wants the A380
they are going to buy it. This ad does not really irritate anyone but people here on the forum. An Airbus
ad is going to be pro-Airbus just like a Boeing ad is going to be pro-Boeing, or a Ford ad pro Ford.

ENOUGH!!! I can't take these stupid angry advertising by Airbus!!!!
C'mon, it seems like they're having a PMS on Boeing.

Boeing advertising:

''Our planes are cool''

Airbus advertising:

''Our planes are cooler than Boeings''

It doesn't matter how striking and furious the marketing of Airbus is... we all know who's better...
