In fact it is a great paradox my friend! Today easyJet said many airlines (even important-fundamental) risk to fail because of Covid-19 pandemic, while Alitalia will continue to fly. As Italian i am really angry!

Alitalia layoffs are about 7.000 employees, almost half of Alitalia total workforce.
These 7.000 people stay at home with about 80% of their salary.

From october 1st 2020 all Alitalia flights from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) are suspended.
Two times a day Alitalia flies to Rome but, because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the missed restart of intercontinental flights (especially to Tokyo and New York), these two "shuttle flights" operated especially for those passengers arriving from Tokyo and New York and with destination Rome FCO, are cancelled.
It is the first time MXP has not Alitalia flights since its open in 1948.

This evening a new agreement gas been signed: new Alitalia officially started. Nine members for the Board of Directors (with old Alitalia they were just seven...), Caio CEO and Lazzerini President, new name "Alitalia Ita" were Ita means Italia Trasporto Aereo-Italian Air Transport.
First concrete act for new Alitalia-Ita? 3 billion euro of State aids, money of us Italian taxpayers (or, better, the few Italians that pay taxes!).
The situation of Alitalia at September 30th 2020? Just 230 million euro available, 1.6 billion euro lost, half of the employees at home payed 80% of the salary, about 35 airplanes flying (among them only three A330-200s, two B777-200s and the single B777-300ER).
What Alitalia-Ita Will be:
- about 6.000 employees
- 90-100 airplanes
- strong International/intercontinental routes
For me this shameful situation once again shows how disgusting my country is!
