I don't think there's any doubt they will release A350 models sooner or later. Whenever I asked about them, Herpa staff said it was work in progress. Whether it's going to be in Airbus colors, is a different question...

=>The 1st B787–9 will enter into service with KLM in 2016 and the first A359 will enter into service with Air France in 2018 but later, both airlines will operate both types of aircraft.

I am not sure why you "would guess" anything rather than check out the facts available:

1. The launch customer for the A350 is Qatar, as has been mentioned several times in this thread already.
2. The European launch customer is Finnair, as has also already been mentioned here.
3. Air France has not ordered the type as of today - nor has, by the way, Lufthansa. It is, however, not too unlikely that both will order the type in due course.

Best regards
Christoph

c5maier.......The AF/KLM group announced that AF will be receiving the A-350s and KLM will be receiving the B-787s. Qatar is not the launch customer for all three versions. Finnair is the European launch customer for which version -800, -900 or -1000? I read the AF/KLM info on ATW's website months ago.
Best regards
Jeff

For the time being, only the A350-900 will be built, therefore that is what Qatar Airways, Finnair and all other operators will fly during several years. As orders can be fairly easily swapped between sub-types, launch customer status may change over the years regarding the -1000, not to mention the -800. To my knowledge, at this stage nothing precludes Qatar Airways to become the first operator of all sub-types.

As mentioned, I consider it not unlikely that Air France will order the type. Fact is, however, that they have nothing else than a tentative purchase agreement from September 2011 that has still not been finalized. Therefore, concerning their launch customer status: With orders placed so far by 41 customers for all versions, they are certainly too late for that party.

Best regards
Christoph

Re: A350 engines started

I really hope they can get everything done before the Paris Air show. If they are starting engines now, they should be doing taxi and and mock runway runs within a week and the first flight may actually be quite sooner than expected.
