Model Review
Mould and Assembly: The Q400 mould from Herpa is relatively new, compared to some others in their collection. Like many of the regional jets that Herpa has been releasing recently, it is a very nicely done mould.

Moving from the nose to the tail:

-To start, it would be helpful noting that this is a tiny tiny model, and all comments must be taken into perspective.

-The nose is pretty good. I think that for the size of the model, the nose is done very well. Perhaps it could be a bit more pointy at the tip. The cockpit windows are pretty well done; I think the side cockpit windows could be a little longer, while the middle windows are a little too stretched.

-The landing gear is commendable. This being such a tiny model, I think herpa used it's smallest tires for this model. While it certainly works on the main landing gear, the nose landing gear tires are too thick. Also, the nose landing gear doors are a little big - well, they're tiny, probably not even a millimeter - but on the real aircraft, they are barely visible.

One thing to note is that narrowbody aircraft tend to have very skinny nose landing gear tires. Other than that, the landing gear is crafted very well.

-The wings are done well. There is a seam on top of the aircraft that is quite visible. It would be very nice if herpa would get rid of this. Still, the rest of the wings are very thin and moulded well.

-The engines, are, superb. They are crafted well, they fit very well into the wing, and the exhaust vent is clearly visible. The turboprop blades are also shaped extremely delicately, with a nice curve that accurately represents the original.

-the fuselage is well shaped. An especially nice detail are the strakes on the bottom of the fuselage, which have been moulded into the aircraft.

-finally, the tail: shaped extremely well. Very crisply done, with little mould lines.

This Q400 aircraft mould is done extremely well. Good job, Herpa.

Livery: Herpa has always done an extremely good job with livery, and this is no exception. We see the airberlin titles on the fusalage, the engines, and even on the bottom of the aircraft. They are spot on, and look excellent.

The red on the underside of the fuselage is in the correct spot, there is no distortion. The thin silver band between the red and white is also done very well.

Otherwise, the livery is done extremely well.

Details: The details are pretty good; not stellar, but pretty good. But on such a small model, it's done pretty well. It's nice that we have windshield wipers, anti-collision lights, window frames, wing tip lights, APU exhaust all standard now. Very nice, Herpa.

Also, on this particular model, because it is a turboprop, the tips of the fanblades are painted yellow.

Another thing that is extremely nice is the very finely printed "Bombardier Q400" under the cockpit side windows.

But there are some more details that are absolutely necessary: We need details on the doors, and it would be very nice to have some static air probes.

Pluses
  Great fuselage
Livery is printed very well.
Details are pretty nice.

Minuses
Nose could be more pointy, wingseam need to be gone
Landing gear need work
more details!

This is an extremely nice model. The mould is extremely nice, especially for a model so small. And on this model, the livery is printed so well and the details are pretty decent. I really like this model.
