Check out
www.houstonspotters.net. Some of them will be at IAH for the inaugural (I unfortunately am flying ORD-DFW Thursday). Yes, Lee Rd. is pretty cool. If you're there I think you'll be disappointed Aug. 1 as LH will most likely land on one of the northern runways. Check houstonspotters...they know a ton more than I w/r/t landing patterns.
BTW, after it lands you might head over to the top of the E garage and take some photos from there. Of course, call Houston Airport Security (phone number found at houstonspotters...if you don't want to dig, go to
www.houstonspotters.mobi and it comes right up) before going up there or HPD may introduce themselves.
In case you haven't figured it out, planes going to a gate on the southern side of IAH tend to land over Lee Rd., and those going to a northern gate tend to land on one of the two northern runways. My experience, however, is that either KLM or Air France bucks the system (Air France did one Sunday and their Skyteam 77W happened to be in town

...thus not a good photo). Happy spotting!
