Trips for 2022

Finally !

New job after 3 years break and also my first flight since June 2019 is now ahead.

HAM-BRU with SN A320 and return BRU-MUC-HAM will be on LH A320's.

Will be hard to hold my Senator with this, but never give up, still a few month to go.

Wonder how things at airport, in flight and in lounges wil be. Curious.

Re: Trips for 2022

So time passed and made a few more trips since then.

Actually BRU was ok, still having to wear masks back then in the plane. Thats fortunately gone for now.

Since then made a few more rides:

HAM-AMS-HAM on Eurowings A319/A320
HAM-VIE-BRU-MUC-HAM on Austrian A319/A320 and LH A320/A321
HAM-MUC-BSL-MUC-HAM on LH A320/A321 and CRJ's
HAM-FRA-CPH-MUC-HAM on Eurowings A319/A320 and LH A320's

Next week will be
HAM-FRA-LCY-FRA-HAM on Eurowings A319, LH Embraer 190/195 and LH A320

The week after mileage run for LH
HAM-MUC.LPA-BRU-HAM on Lufthansa A320, Eurowings Discover A320 and Brussels A320, all in Business Class to get the missing miles

Week after will be the long hop finally again in C Class
HAM-FRA-SIN-FRA-HAM on Lufthansa A320/A321 and finally a Boeing 747-8 again (So happy they switched to B 747 for the winter schedule).
Amazing what prices they call off for such flights these days...

And then, finally vacation, also in C Class off to sea, sun and fun
HAM-FRA-DXB-MUC-HAM on LH A320, A330 and A350

Hope to get my miles finally alltogether to stay on LH Gold for another 2 years, considering I started going back to the skies only mid August it is quite an excercise...

Re: Trips for 2022

Hey folks, hope you all had some lovely christmas days.
Vacation is over (unfortunately) and indeed all flights for 2022 are flow.

Thanks to Lufthansa presenting me the highlight of the year without a doubt on my business trip back and forth to Singapore.
Both flights were on 747-8 and actually one day before flying out from Frankfurt I was upgraded into First Class ! First to first, so to speak !
After almost 600 flights in my life and many, many of them on LH and being SEN since 2019, this was really a very nice surprise. Extra left the transit area in Frankfurt to enjoy the First Class Terminal and was able to visit the cockpit after topuchdown in SIN.

Return flight remained Business Class, but was lucky to FINALLY catch the Retro Jet 747, after I missed her a few times already by only a day....

Great way to close flying in 2022 !

Re: Trips for 2022

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

My first post lockdown flight was also to BRU on SN A320 but back in Feb 22, masks onboard and in airports and all the forms and QR codes still needed back then, all different now of course!

Congrats, sounds like a wonderful experience!

After a few years of relatively few flights, I had a decent amount of flying in 2022:
- SEP 8: BRU-LHR BA A319 - Economy
- SEP 9: LHR-IAD BA 777-200 - Premium Economy (was supposed to fly on SEP 8 on an A380, but missed my connection at LHR due a delayed inbound flight)

- SEP 13: DCA-JFK AA E170 - Economy+
- SEP 13: JFK-LHR BA 777-200 - Premium Economy
- SEP 14: LHR-BRU BA A319 - Economy

- NOV 5: BRU-LHR BA A320 - Economy
- NOV 5: LHR-BRU BA A321 - Economy

I was particularly impressed by the quality of BA premium economy class. The seat offers perfect comfort for relatively short long haul flights and the service is excellent. The only problem is that BA managed to lose my bag, and as of now I'm still waiting for a refund.

I also made two return journey's between Brussels and London by Eurostar high speed train in July and must admit that while I love flying, Eurostar is a very strong alternative to flying between both cities. The journey takes about two hours from downtown to downtown and it was a real pleasure to avoid the airport chaos of last summer. The Standard premier class offers extremely comfortable seats and great catering and as a status member I even had access to their stunning lounge at London St Pancras station.

I don't have any trips planned for 2023 yet.

I get the feeling BA is an operational mess regarding bags lately, but sorry to hear you've not had your bag returned to you yet.. Disgusting

Re: Trips for 2022

2022 has been my most flown year so far, which I'm very happy with.

43 flights
51,666 km
73 h 43 mins

Happy to have flown on the A318 3 more times (F-GUGK, GUGR, GUGO) before its imminent retirement, logged 2 new aircraft (E295, E145), 2 new airlines (KM and 8R), visited 2 new countries (and 7 new airports)

Did you figure that out via Flugstatistik.de ?
Interesting page I find personally, just in processing my last 8 flights now for last year.
This year wasnt as busy at it used to be in peak times, only 35 flights and 8 out of those were private. 2018 was the most, 106 flights that year.

But flown one new airline (EW Discover) and many new routings and one new class. Airports and majority of airlines were all same same.

Thank you, indeed was very nice.

Can confirm BA Prem Eco is nice, or at least when I flew it last time (Boeing 747-400 in 2017 I think it was to Chicago). Even back then a fine product already, totally enough for TA service to East Coast.

Re: Trips for 2022

2022 was a good year. So many nice flights.

Starting with LH to DXB in Premium Eco via MUC to Experience the 350 again
A3 got me to ATH and HER again and I always love their service.
Went to AGP with TP some flights Operated by WI which brought me extra 600 EUR due to delay which I used to book Business Class to Canary Island later in 2023. Must say TP in Eco is realy tight.

Biggest trip was finally MEX which had to be postponed since 2020. Used Miles to fly TK C to MEX and TP C out from CUN, inluding one Hotair Balloon flight over the pyramides of Teotihuacan and using VB, VW and 4Y for domestic flights it summs up to 20 starts and landings.

So far another 17 are already scheduled for 2023. Most anticipated is the SK A321 in Premium Eco to EWR. I wonder how crossing the big ocean will be in a single isle aircraft. And I still hope they change MIA-ARN back to the A350.

It is indeed. I recieved full compensation today (almost 5 months later…) for the expenses due to my lost bag but BA is still claiming that they are still searching for my bag…

I was also fully compensated for the hotel night in LHR but BA is denying the 600 EUR compensation provided by Regulation 261/2004 claiming force majeur (extraordinary circumstances) claiming that the delay was caused by severe weather conditions. I dispute this claim because several other factors directly aggravated the delay of the BRU-LHR, I’m curious about the outcome.

While EU regulations offer an excellent protection to passengers on paper, it is a real pain in the a** to enforce those rights. At least I can use my experience with BA for scientific purposes as I’m currently doing extensive research on air passenger rights in the EU for uni…

Well I will give them another try as I will be flying BA again very soon to NYC (and trying out the TWA Hotel in JFK):
JAN 31 BRU-LHR BA A320neo (eco) / LHR-JFK BA 772 (prem. eco)
FEB 6 JFK-LHR BA 772 (prem. eco) / LHR-BRU BA A319 (eco)

This time I’ll put an airtag in my bag

Better check before if it's allowed. Heard some airlines dont allow these things in suitcases....

Good luck time.

And this moves us then already to Trips 2023, doesn't it ?
