Interesting question... this location would be the beach, but actually up at the fenceline which is as close to the action as you can get.

A few years ago it was two B744's from BA, but they downgraded one to a B772. Interestingly, the 744 arrives first thing in the morning with the 777 a short while later. The 777 then leaves an hour earlier than the 744 in the afternoon. I'm guessing one of these tagged on to Melbourne originally whereas now both aircraft sit in layover bays throughout the day.

Up until March 06 MEL had its own BA service operating via SIN.

Thanks for that info Marty, I didn't know MEL got it's own BA service, I just assumed it was a tag on. I'm guessing there wasn't enough market to send the flight to Melbourne, and maybe it was around the same time the second 744 flight to Sydney was downgraded to 772 as well?

Archipelago is flying under the radar
Re: Sydney Spotting - 3 January 2009

Nice pics Dan, those are real up close and personal with those A380s. Anyone who dislikes A380 should take a look at that full shot of OQC's wingspan.

Good to see that Air Vanuatu 738WL since I've never seen Air Pacific's 738WL anymore for ages.

By the way, since it is summer now and days are longer, is there a chance to spot any 763 Hawaiian which only arrives and departs nightime? Do they arrive before 8:30 PM?

I agree, have seen a couple of them with serious paint conditions. This N412MC registered looks even worst. Hope you don't mind, I put it as an attachment below.

Hey Marty,

I haven't been paying attention to the developments in that post on YSSY Board, but am interested in going along. Have you been to one before? Assuming I have no plans on either day I'll definitely try to make it out there.

Dan

British Airways haven't had Kangaroo routes operating via Hong Kong since at least the 70's, excluding CX codeshares.
