Gulf Air Models

Hello!

I just realized that all Gulf Air models in the database are registered under Oman as the country. But few years back, Gulf Air turned into an exclusively Bahrain owned airline.

So it would be correct that all of them be registered under Bahrain as the country rather than Oman.

Thanks

Re: Gulf Air Models

It's correct that Gulf Air is now the airline of Bahrain, but most models represent the old Gulf Air which has been an airline of for different Emirates. And in that time their fleet was registered in Oman (registration prefix A40-). Thus for most cases the db is correct. Since 2007 all a/c in their fleet have been reregisterd to Bahrain (prefix A9C-), and there's a least one model,
Phoenix Models 1:400 Gulf Air A330-243 - Wings900 ID# 18864
that has a Bahrain reg. and should indeed be changed to Bahrain in the db.
Another case is the 777
http://www.wings900.com/modeldatabas...elsPageSize=25
which was just last year leased from Jet Airways. This one should also be set to Bahrain.
To make a long story short : IHMO for all pre 2007 models Oman is ok, for all models representing the period 2007 and later Bahrain is the correct country.

Re: Gulf Air Models

I understand your point, but if we go by the registrations, then the two 77W models should be registered under India since they were wet leased and carried the Jet Airways registration VT-JEG while serving Gulf Air.

IMO the country in the database should be based on the airline's present ownership scenario and not based on the aircraft's registration. It does not seem correct to view Gulf Air models and see the country as Oman whereas it is a Bahrain owned airline these days.

Re: Gulf Air Models

My point was not just going by registration, but in case of Gulf Air, the airline was indeed owned by Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. The ownership changed in 2007, but that doesn't change history. Would you call a DC-3 'Boeing DC-3' just because Boeing bought McDonnel Douglas ? For me a DC-3 is a Douglas DC-3, and a MD-11 is a McDonnel Douglas MD-11 and not a Boeing product, just because the ownership change at some time.
