New Pelter International Airport

Hi friends,
Remember Pelter International Airport? If not, check out this thread: https://www.wings900.com/vb/model-air...0-airport.html

Just like the title says, I made a new airport. It's still called Pelter International, but it's the newer, more modern, more realistic airport. No airlines have a hub there (Pelter Airlines will if GJ releases an ERJ-195 mold I can make some customs), but United has a focus city there and has a maintenance hangar there. This airport has a beach near the foot of runway 15, similar to SXM's. The airport currently has one terminal, with jetways A1-A9, and gates A10-A17 as bus gates. Gates A3-A7 are widebody gates, (narrowbody aircraft usually use gates A3-A7 if they're open), and the rest are narrowbody. Gate A7 has two jetways to accommodate 747s and A380s (however, no airlines send A380s here). In some of the photos, you might see some green balls. Those are pieces from the grass mat that came off. I'll clean this when I paint the tarmac. I haven't made the tarmac yet because I don't have any UniPosca pens, but I'm going to order some soon, and I can make it then.

Anyway, enjoy the pictures! I am fairly pleased with the result.

The time is roughly 6 am.

An overview:

The terminal (it's actually two of the old GJ terminals pushed together):

An overview of the cargo/hangar/VIP area with the beach to the right:

Alaska's daily flight to Seattle at gate A2:

A United 757 prepares to depart to Los Angeles at gate A4:

Delta usually sends their MD-90s on their Atlanta route. This MD-90 is at gate A5:

British Airways sends 747-400s to Pelter twice daily from London-Heathrow, via Nassau. This flight is at the double jetway, gate A7:

A spotter takes this shot from a road parallel to the airport:

The earliest of Aeromexico's 4 daily flights to Mexico City rests at gate A9:

A Redwood A320 prepares for departure to San Francisco at gate A12:

Spirit sends A319s twice daily between Fort Lauderdale and Pelter. This A319 is at gate A14:

Allegiant's MD-83s serve Orlando-Sanford 3 times daily. The earliest flight is at gate A16:

Iberia sends A340-300s to Pelter from Madrid via San Juan. This A343 is holding for a US Airways Express CRJ-700:

The CRJ from Charlotte landing on runway 33:

Re: New Pelter International Airport

United's first 787 Dreamliner, N20904, sits inside the hangar for routine maintenance:

Cathay Pacific Cargo sends 747-8s daily between Pelter and Hong Kong (ignore the stereo in the background; my airport is in my workout room, hence the red walls):

The airport from runway 15. The beach is in the foreground with the airport in the back:

The gates map:

Does anyone know why the two different terminal lights are two different colors?

Tell me what you think.

Also, some of the photos might appear blurry or off focus because of the ted walls and the light over the cargo area is out and I don't have any replacements yet.

Thanks,
Tim

Re: New Pelter International Airport

Very well done Tim! It looks professional and just as good as the original Pelter even though it is smaller. I like your variety of traffic and I think this airport will suit your collection very well.

Glad to see Pelter back!
Andy

Re: New Pelter International Airport

This is a really nice little airport Tim!

The traffic is great, and I love the European heavies Will we be seeing some more of your Asian aircraft here as well? I'll be looking forward to another update of this thread!

Cheers, Cal.

Thanks Andy! The only problem is it can't really accommodate all my United aircraft and then my other models.

Thank you! Do you know anywhere I can get 1:400 palm trees?

Thanks Cal! Yes, I have some Asian aircraft serving the airport (Singapore 772, Thai A346, and Cathay Cargo 748F), along with Middle Eastern airlines such as Emirates and Qatar.

Yeah, but I'm more focusing on Pelter because it used to be my main airport a few years ago and then I completely redid it.

I actually already made the pictures for the next update, where the airport is full of international carriers including Qatar and Emirates, but photobucket doesn't want to work so I can't upload them.

Did you get my message?
