My "diorama"
Work on my Moscow Dedovsk International layout has not yet begun due to lack of time and material. But what i have been able to do is this little diorama.
After hearing this and that about recycling i just took an old shoebox we had laying around and this is the result:
It's got four narrowbody parking stands which, surprisingly, can handle planes as wide as the Il-86.
After i took the overview shot, i felt like doing something sort-of nostalgic:
Not the best picture, but then again i don't have the best camera.
I hope to find more time and parts so i can expand this little layout.
Edit: I appologize for the lack of GSE, but that is something i couldn't help when i took the shots.

Re: My "diorama"
Nice job my friend. It is a nice, small diorama, and the old Russian airplanes look very nice.

Re: My "diorama"
I hope I don't sound arrogant or mean any disrespect when I say so, as I've been noticing this being more or less a disturbing trend lately, but a lot of these model airports posted lately seem to just be a foil printed off the internet, and not much else.
So with that said,
The lack of GSE is the least of my criticisms (not that it would be, it's something I'd usually overlook as I sorta consider it more or less like a model aircraft, you don't need either on a model airport, but they do help enhance the looks). I guess putting in a building, even a small one on the edge to be like a backdrop of sorts wouldn't be a bad idea (in other words, just a layer showing the only one cross section of the building that is facing the rest of the "airport"). it could be a space saver, but also I think give it more substance that could get some more well deserved oohs and ahs.
Maybe for some inspiration I could really imagine this scene looking great accompanied with a building (or even just a cross section of it on the very edge) of an airport like Novosibirsk, Bratsk, Mahachkala or even the classically elegant looking Chelyabinsk (though that one would be a problem to make a simple cross section of.)
Some pictures of those airports that I had mentioned.

Hey, model plane manufactures, how about some Braniff PZL 230Fs.

Re: My "diorama"
Well, LOT, as i said in my first post: i hope to find more time and material to expand. My easter break from school has just started today, so i do have a bit more time now than i usually would.
However, in order for me to make a cross section of a terminal, i would have to send the picture to my mothers work place as we don't have a working printer at home anymore.
And, even though i forgot to mention it, i have infact started thinking of using this part as a remote apron for my fantasy Moscow Dedovsk International layout.

Ah I see, somehow I didn't process that first part. As for a Cross section, a printer isn't really needed. What you can do is take a slice of Balsa Wood and very carefully cut it to your needed shape/design, then with careful work, you can then paint it up.

Re: My "diorama"
Not exactly an update or anything, i was just bored and took another picture with a, for Moscow, special visitor:
@LOT 737-300: I will try to find some cheap balsa wood and get to work on a facade of either a hangar, office, terminal or whatever soon. It will most likely end up being a sort of small office.

Yeah, make sure you have an array of brushes (you could likely pick up a bag for no more than 5 USD at certain craft supply stores), and some masking tape may help you too when it comes to putting in details.

Re: My "diorama"
Everything has a beginning that evolves into something Yours is only the beginning . Keep at it and learn from the praises and the criticisms . By the way, what diecast s airline is the Airbus at the top of the first image It's all white with a blue tail . I looks like the name begins with the letter "C" . Is
that 1/500 or 1/400th scale
