Franklin Cargoport

Hi all,

with this thread I would like to introduce my latest airport project.
The airfield is named

and is only used for cargo flights.
When it is finished it will contain a large cargo ramp, about three cargo warehouses with an office building and a maintenance ramp with two hangars and three further positions for widebodies.
Unfortunately the building are all on order at time and so I started to built the cargo ramp.
The size of this ramp is about 95x63 cm (incl. the taxiway), has 6 positions for widebodies (901-906) and 8 positions for smaller aircrafts (801N/S-804N/S).
All 18 ground foils are created for my needs (with the help of the internet) and printed out. The foils are fixed with carpet tape.
The layout of the ramp is nearly the same we have here at the Munich Airport, but I didn't built so much positions...

The cargo complex will belocated at the widebody positions and the hangars left to the cargo ramp.

Looking very nice! I look forward to seeing more pics once the buildings arrive.

Can you give any info on where you found the foils on the internet. I am currently starting a 1/400 project and am looking for something good.

Beautiful, very nice layout (i like the grass), and the idea of a cargo airport is very nice.

thank you for your comments.
As I wrote the layout of my cargo ramp is like our's at Munich Airport.
Here is a GOOGLE EARTH pic of the cargo ramp at MUC/EDDM (quite empty while this shot...):

A cargo airfield, because I'm a great fan of the B747(F) but also of the frighters in general.

Interesting, a nice change from the usual passenger airports. You've got a really good start there, just need a gaggle more cargo aircraft, and the accompanying swarms of GSE and cargo terminals. Keep up the good work!

Hello,

here are some new pics of my little cargo airport.
Within the last days I was only able to work a short time on my diorama, but I nearly finished the layout of the maintenance area with the hangars and one gate to the airfield.
In total the diorama will have a size of 140x90 cm and the cargo warehouses and some office buildings will be added (hopefully) soon.

There are still missing very many accessories (lamps, fences, vehicles,…) but these things will be added when all ground foils, streets and buildings are complete.
I hope you will enjoy the “Franklin Cargoport”.
I’m looking forward for your comments…

Hope to finish the general part of the Hangar ramp within the next days.
Than I have to do the "fine tuning" of the little cargo-world
I have a lot of ideas - we will see if I can do them in 1:500...

for the fencing I took a special wire-cloth from a German hobby shop.
To give you an idea of what I mean here is the link to the shop and this materials.

Hi,
thank you!
At time only the two hangars and the vehicles are made by Herpa. I was a little bit lazy to built them by myself...

All other things are selfmade like all the rest which will be followed (except one cargo complex of Herpa).

Hello,
here are three new shots of my "Franklin Cargoport".
While Easter I found a short time to finish the general layout of my maintenance area on the airfield.
The pictures I show you are only a test how some aircrafts fits in the area.
Within the next days I will do the fine tuning of this ramp also of the hangar's interior and than I will start working on the cargo area.
I hope in the next week I will get the first part of my selfmade backround for this diorama...
