Re: Airport Awards 2010: BEST IDEA
I don't really understand what "best idea" stands for? I can write and tell the people many things about my plans. But its just on the drawing board and not finished. So what you gonna do if those guys for example tell you they stopped the project. They will loose the award? Don't wanna flame someone here. Both projects sounds great and I hope we will see both airports finished one day.

Re: Airport Awards 2010: BEST IDEA
I think - and I actually say that as a contestant who originally handed in its project as "under construction" that this is for airports that ARE in the construction phase, but never the lesss not very far. At mine for exmple, the apron including the LED taxiway landing is in fact already done in 2/5 of the model, but because of its size and relation to realism, the planning and documentation process is consuming a lot of time, so there has not be done as much as with some other under construction airports, which is why I think he (ALEXAKOS) has put it into this category.
I will take next year part in the finished airport category, and it will be finished, but yes, this award as far as i understand it, is in fact for the idea - So, if you do not finish it, your idea was best, and as the idea is awarded, it should not be taken away. But, for your idea to be best, I guess quite a lot of work is needed. I mean, I can only talk about my project, but if you have a look at my airport thread where I report about the construction process, you will see, that an awful lot of work has already gone into "this idea" - so it is more than just telling what you just have imagined, and I presume it is a similar case with other, the other, contestand.
Regards,
Fabian

Re: Airport Awards 2010: BEST IDEA
I agree with Fabian and Julian.
I could have handed in my RCM project, which, yes, was a no-go due to family issues. There should be a contest for Under Construction. As if, theres already some buildings, and or runway.
But, I do hope to see Frankfurt done.

Re: Airport Awards 2010: BEST IDEA
Hi guys,
I handed in my idea as well in this category and it would be really silly to not finish this airport, i have over a 100 planes that will be displayed.
Its just a lot of time like what Fabian sayed, planning and working on our airports takes time. And sometimes a little more than you expected.
What you see above at (my Pictures) is already a big airport foil that is going to be used.
I believe we both put a lot of effort in designing our two airports ;-)
Regards Bas.

Re: Airport Awards 2010: BEST IDEA
Nice work colleague,
thanks for your words and all of your comments I am fully with you and I cannot wait to compete in one year for the best airports awards regardless of who is going to win this now here. It's not the price that actually matters but the projects itself.

Re: Airport Awards 2010: BEST IDEA
Julian,
Fabian almost completed my explanation to the BEST IDEA but let me RE-explain why I created the awards in the first place
1. To create motivation, incentive and inspiration
2. sorry to say but I was bored of reading threads that did not give much of die cast and aviation interest
The BEST IDEA contestants and winner, may NOT finish his airport and I don't care! What I care is to share with the community the way an idea is born and how you start of with creating an airport. INSPIRATION, INSPIRATION, INSPIRATION!! Once more?
For me, regardless of votes and total appearance... ALL AIRPORTS are winners!!!! ALL of the contestants and given one or more nice ideas on how and what can be included in a diorama.
WELL DONE ALL!
PS I seriously doubt these two IDEAS not being finished Some under construction may seize but not those two fellas!

I had explained to you why I put you on this category.
These awards are for airports made within and up to 2010.... and during that time your airports was, two IKEA drawers a few models and a blue print drawing.
Your lighting and ground effect was added on the 07th of January, 2011.
Just to be fair and sqare

Re: Airport Awards 2010: BEST IDEA
I know It wasn't meant as a critique at all, thats all I am saying - it wasn't that far yet as other airports in the construction category. I am absolutely happy with that Don't get me wrong.

I know... I wrote this just to depict to others that I had a tough time choosing as honestly as possible on how to run these awards without any hard feelings by anyone!
Note that this whole AWARDS set up was organized by myself ONLY (Blog anouncements, set up, design, contestant gathering and text edditing . Here I would like to thank the technical support of "SEVADA" and "MISOBROSKO" (very nice fellas, IT staff) who gave me a hand making the threads sticky and front paged my Blogs!
So if you find a few minor misshaps or errors... excuse me.. this is my first time!
Will improve next year! PROMICE!

Re: Airport Awards 2010: BEST IDEA
...and you did a great job Alexakos. I really like the idea of the airport awards!!
There should be a category for airports constructed in 2004. So I can put my Frankfurt model in this category
