INFORMATION for model airport threads

Guys, if you start a thread about a new model airport, PLEASE stop it when you have NO PHOTOS of it. There are plenty of examples here, when someone announced its airport with a long thread where you can fly, how many airlines are serving it, which logos he used, etc. After 2-3 months, finally the first picutres.

You can start a thread "Projects" or whatever if you have no photos.

Re: INFORMATION for model airport threads

What kind of forum do you want?
One for serious modelers who take care of every detail or a toyforum with 15 minute airports made with LEGO and shampoo bottles???
By the way, the new trend seems to be to add a "map" of your soon to be airport just to get by these rules.

The thing is: this is a thread for model airports. If you look through the topics, there are many airports which are great and the owner has invested plenty of time. On the other hand, there are b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t. topics, where you'll find a map or a lego tower or whatever. I'll have a look at these, you can be sure. If there is no progress, the thread will be deleted. Also threads with no pictures at all. We have to keep a certain quality of standard. You and I know, that these standards aren't very high, but a good amount of builders gets over it and shows us good quality results and pictures.

Let's not knock the LEGO. Given some serious effort and creativity, you can actually do some good stuff with it. It's all a matter of effort used, if you take the time to make a nice design, and take the time to make sure you use the right colors and elements, I don't see why it should be knocked on. Think about it like using a block of wood. Some airports we have seen are just that, an unpainted block of wood with a jetway or two attached to it. Then we have the guys that could take that block of wood and make it into a dead on diorama of a real historical terminal. So in short, it's not what you use, it's how you use it.

On the other hand, I am getting tired of the "prebuilt" airports (Geminiports/herports) and the Pre-printed-ports (template of a building, print it out, then print out the tarmac.) My opinion is that it is about as creative and filled with effort as a block with a jetway sticking out of it. The fact that I see those get an insane amount of compliments is just sad in my opinion too. Hell at some points I'm tempted to pull out my VVS USSR Visor cap put both of my herpa jetways on it, put some of my planes around it, snap photos and say that's my model of SVO-1 just as a joke (and commentary).

I don't mind seeing even somewhat simple works done by hand though. Usually then, some good advise for improvement can be given, and a good technique that will eventually evolve can start there.

Oh yes, that's a perfect engineering, good layout, good style, I see scale could be somewhere between 1:500 and 1:100, very colorful and living diorama! GO ON!!!

I think anyone that posts their airports is proud of them (especially that Fisher Price one).

That's not Fisher Price... that's Herpa's new airport set.

Haha!! ROFL
This is very drastic, does that mean that folks who create routes without an airport to back it up are deleted? And does this scheme commence from here-onwards?

From that second I posted the sticky thread.
This is a Model Airport section, not a VIRTUAL model airport one. Either you post photos of finished or being-in-progress-airports, or don't even start a topic. I've already closed threads.
