Friends, here is one of the latest progress on my model airport NAIA 1. Detailing for facilities and runways are undergoing constructions.

Re: NAIA 1 on progress

There used to be a model of NAIA1 in the airport itself. I saw if from 2003-2005 and then it disappeared. Wonder where it went?

Re: NAIA 1 on progress

As I love the look of this terminal (not the inside, it smells and so old fashion). To sad it is always night when I am there. But isn't the model a little high? The model looks so small.

I love NAIA.
It with its rundown facilities and earthy colours inside.
Too many memories there, too much history.
I guess its cause I'm Filipino I love it so much.

now back on topic,
I have to agree on this one, the terminal should be around the same height, with the main section of the terminal being taller slightly than the gates. (refer to this pic: http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:-...al/6213732.jpg)

But it doesn't mean its a bad model!

like I said before Good Luck with the rest of the project!
Ryan

You are both right and good observer. BTW, I am not trying to duplicate the real model if ever there is one. I am not an architect or even studied architectural buildings nor did some major research. I just based it from one picture from the google images. I was just inspired to do the model of NAIA terminal 1 building because it is an icon of a history not only the structure but what actually happened there 26 years ago (Aug 21, 1983). But just like what you have said guys..it doesn't mean its a bad model. Actually, am planning to reconstruct it.

May Sir Ninoy Aquino rest in piece

I like the reasons why you are building NAIA T1, and I look forward to your updates!
I plan to do some terminal of MNL, currently thinking T2 or T3, my plans for making the pre-NAIA T1 terminal (the one destroyed by the fire) is that I don't have enough retro jets. Also I'm only really collecting PAL so T2 would make more sense, but Mr. Jao's done it already

If you really want to make it historic, you have to add Bay 11. This is where Ninoy was shot, and a plaque has been placed on this area which reads:
ON THIS SPOT
BENIGNO "NINOY" AQUINO WAS ASSASSINATED ON 21 AUGUST 1983
IT IS ETERNALLY ENSHRINED FOR WHEREVER A MARTYR HAS SHED HIS BLOOD FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE, PEACE AND FREEDOM, THERE IS SACRED GROUND.
THE SUN CANNOT BLEACH, THE WIND CANNOT BLOW, THE RAIN CANNOT WASH THAT SANCTITY AWAY
FROM GROUND LIKE THIS SPRINGS THAT WHICH FOREVER MAKES THE FILIPINO GREAT

And it marks the beginning of a people's march to freedom.

Well, space is an issue, but also lack of documents. I'll need to rummage through the libraries at UST and ask around MIAA when I get home.

I love reading this. Absolutely amazing.
He was not just an amazing person. He was the metaphorical representation of Democracy of the Philippines.

Re: NAIA 1 on progress

wow, that is so good!
last month I cancel my plan to make my naia 1 also for 1/500 models because the lack of materials and space.
But now I am now in middle of making my Lufthansa Technik Philippines hangar

I really loved this airport because of it's architecture, and I wish that the Philippine Government can improve this airport.

is the UST library open to non-Thomasians?

about the airport and democracy, actually i planned to make a smaller version of NAIA 1. then cory aquino passed away, so i wanted to name my soon-to-be-built airport Cory Aquino International(i wont make a thread for this yet because i'm so busy with college). i just feel grateful for these people who loved our country so much

I'm pretty much sure the Pinoy Govt. won't make any major improvements onto NAIA due to the CRK project "the proposed new gateway to the Philippines, said to open in 2015? The developments and progress seems to have come to a halt in the Philippines, which is a little shame.
