Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

It has been a long time since I've had any updates on my projects but here's what's going on:
I am halfway down putting on roofing and applying my secret building fix(Boeing isn't the only group having issues with connections at this time).

I have also completed my AW NC 752 fleet!

I will be making an official airport sign soon.

I'll get some picks up ASAP!

Here are some pics I took after my progress today:
I put on the last bit of roofing, applied more terminal banners, and attached the doors and 1 emergency stairwell. Let me know what you think.

100% agree with you jonathan47.
I have similar feelings.

Southwest Airlines:

You should take this word deep in your heart. You put so many attention at the design stage and at manufacturing stage you want all of this to be a mass.
Look your parking lots, if you will be more patient all the lines will look nice, same in lenght and distances between them will be also same. Slow down your hands !!!!
Otherwise the final look of your airport will be more as a children toy than real airport.

I hope you are not getting angry with me, this is just suggestion how to do the good looking diorama.

Look for my post, I saw in it photos of custom buildings and some suggestions how to use Herpa airport accessories - building elements. I took over 3 weeks to design it and almost 4 weeks to paint them and assemble togerher (without the glue) before I took those photos. I hope you can have enough time for your airport, to do good job.

I wish you a lot of fun by doing your custom airport.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

I still haven't gotten around to fixing the parking garage yet, and I haven't had any time to work on this project in the past 3 months or so. Believe me, I slowed down and it is still a progress thread, I moved on with the project so that I can do all my touch-up's and redo's with painting at the end like what I did with the rest of my airport. There's plenty of other touch up areas that are needed. Another reason I had such a long break was because I was planning a fix for my buildings to correct a major problem and I blieve I found a very nice solution with the airline banners along the bottom of the terminal. I have school from 7:40 Am to 2:20 PM and 3 days a week work from 3 pm to 7 pm then homework and etc so I have been taking extra time to plan out this airport. If I showed you my constantly updated drawing of the airport you would see what I mean. In another thread I got some feedback on my lines as well and I have found a solution to not make them as heavy by using a make-up brush to evenly spread a very thin coat of the powder so I went back to the drawing board and now I am applying it. I really appreciate the advice though, I'll show you some of the computer-generated decals I made in another post.

Here's some more progress pics, I finished installing the roofs and I'm almost done with the banners. I have a ton of touch up areas to work on and plenty of small details to add so stay tuned for those updates.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

I have been doing touch-ups on my airport and am about to get the funding for the jetways and GSE. I have a ton of extra space in my entrance area so I am toying with the idea of adding a shuttle-bus terminal+taxi rink or a taxi rink and T scale railroad. I ordered a total of 22 aircraft which should be here very soon. I'm not 100% sure what I am going to do yet, if you have any ideas please feel free to post them.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Ok. I got a lot done in the past 48 hours. I got a T Gauge train for the airport here's a link to the thread about that: http://www.wings900.com/vb/model-air...-new-idea.html. I also bought the jetways for the airport, 42 GJ Narrowbody Jetways and 32 1:500 jetways for the RJ's. I went ahead and installed the RJ ones using some of my old jetways from BFI. I am also planning out a shuttle-bus terminal and a taxi rink for the airport. I got around to doing paint touch-ups and I fixed the parking garage finally. Here are some pics of my progress.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

I finally got the jetways and they are installed but I am short 5 so I have to order 1 more set. I also received the 500 cars for my airport and have began placing those throughout the entrance area. I have also received the rest of the track and etc for the train and have put up the main part of the rail line. There's a lot going on with this airport and I'll get some pics up this weekend to show you all the updates.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

I have a ton of pics to upload. For those of you who have been tracking the progress of the train/bus terminal here are additional pics of that and some of one of my sections that is pretty much done.

Here are some pics of the train station. The front of the station is clear plastic and isn't visible in the picture.

It's official, I ordered up my lights for FLJR this morning. There are going to be over 600 individual bulbs, runway stop bars and much more!
