Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Thanks! All the white gaps that are going to be dirt have been painted with dirt. Oil pastel works but the problem is on a display this big, it can be very hard to spread pastel evenly and with widespread coverage throughout the apron. I also have to wait to see which aircraft will be where and etc to see how it'll be as realistic as possible.

What about my airport isn't to your standards?
I hear ya there. I've re-done so many things so many times on my airport.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

It's been awhile since I posted updates but today I completed the putting on the windows. I couldn't do what I did on La Tierra Del Sol but I did use black poster board and packing tape to make them. Then I affixed them to the terminal using a spreadable glue. Only 2 of the terminal sections are actually assembled and non of them are glued to the board so keep that in mind when viewing the pics.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Very nice Brian... one question: are those white lines outside the terminal where the aircraft will sit for loading with pax? Arne't they a little bit close?
One other thing, in image 4, there is a huge square area in the middle, why don't you make a remote terminal in there, of course, with allowing space around the edges for taxiing heavies

What aircraft/airlines will he flown from here?

Matt

Which white lines? Because the only white lines on the airport are runway lines and road lines.
To answer your other question, There's about 20 gates around that square so to prevent jet-blasting various ground crews that square was need to pushback the aircraft. Also the largest aircraft on this airport is a 752 and I only have a few gates that can handle them because it is a regional airport.

For airlines:
Alaska Airlines, America West, America West Express, AA and American Eagle, Continental and Continental Express, Delta Airlines, Horizon Air, Northwest Airlines, Northwest Airlink, Reno Air, SWA, TWA, TWE, United, United Shuttle, United Express, US airways and US express. And there will be USAF aircraft based out of here (C-130 and KC-135 StratoTanker)

You have answered my question without me having to re-phrase my wording. Keep up the great work... it's giving me ALOT of inspiration...

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Ooooh, a little crowded there. I see one major area of danger for collisions. I tried my best to follow DEN's footsteps: Spaciousness and organization. You airport is good in both those areas but does lack those qualities in that one little section. I do like how perfect and straight your gates turned out to be.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

If you look at KPHX's terminal areas, it's a similar theory. Also the biggest aircraft is a 752 and they have designated areas pretty much on their own concourse, you'll see once the airport is filled.

Man How do you make all this? What do you use to color the runways and taxiways?

Terminals and buildings are balsa, the rest is paint, correctional tape, and crushed chalk. The windows are poster board with packing tape over them.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

I have 1 more concourse to glue down and a couple of trouble spots to work out but it's coming along nicely. Here are some pics with the aircraft I have received so far for the airport.
