Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

I'm making good progress for today. My airport is officially 3D. I added a wall to protect the road from jetblast and ensure security. I'll have a pic of that up later but here is the airport ground as it nears the final detailing.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

It's actually on plywood. It's 96 inches long by 77 inches wide.
**update**
I have a little set back, there is a shower drain pipe above my airport and it was leaking onto the east and central apron areas causing some damage to the the markings so that will take a little bit to fix but the good news is, the pen and paint coats withstood the rain.

You are working at a very fast rate, if you want your airport te be perfect, be patient, do everything step by step. Your work is very nice, but you can do a better work, you just need to take your time, if you aren't 100% sure of your final product, do it again. That's why you need to go step by step.

I've re-done somethings about 10 times. If you look at the pics everything is near perfection. I'm not quite sure what your saying about perfect but it's a 1:400 airport still in progress meaning things will be changed or fixed as the project progresses. What about my airport isn't to your standards?

I never said your airport was bad, I just was saying that you can do a better job if you take more time.
You can do a better job on your parking marks, try darwing them in MS Paint and glue them to the parking floor.

I still haven't touched up that part but it's on the list. I had to add the toll machines first in case I made another mistake which I did.

United Shuttle needs to improve
Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

I love the originality of this airport and custom work, but isn't it a little unrealistic and unsafe that your car gararge roof is suspended over the road!? Other than that, great work!

The edge of the parking garage hanging over the road will connect to the terminal. If you look at the overview, the only white area left is all terminal. I ordered the balsa for it and it was shipped today so hopefully by wednesday I'll be building. Thanks for the comment!!

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

The balsa is here! And I have the terminal pieces cut to length, connected to form single planes and painted. Next step is going to be detailing , touch-up painting, and assembly. I decided to go with a desert sand kind of color for the backround color of the terminal, it will have black windows, two story floor plan, black roof(Maybe a cool slanted roof), eventually lights if I can find our christmas rice lights or else I'll have to wait until i can get more LED rice lights. I'll post some pics later of my progress.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

I have a quick update. Progress has been slow, partly because I have a job now so that takes up a bit of time but also because I had to work through some structural issues with the buildings because of their size. I decided to use clear packing tape and black poster board to make the windows and I will post pictures of how they look once I assemble them. I also do not have the proper xmas lights to do the lighting on the airport so I will just save up and get LED lights just like the ones on BFI.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

At first, I thought the second plan looked better, but its really starting to turn out very well. I can already see how good it'll look with the white gaps filled in with grass. . .

Did you spray it on or paint it with a brush?

I suggest you experiment with oil pastels for adding marks to the apron. . . it worked out very well for me. . .

Good Luck . . . it looks great!
