Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Yes I am but it's been well planned out and I already have the practice. Here's list of techniques and designs from my practice airports being used on this airport:

From KSTL East Terminal:
Concrete grid work
Parking garage
road building and detailing
taxiway signs
balsa wood working
Maybe mass transit systems if I can figure out how to make a 100% custom 1:400 version

From Central New York International:
realistic dirt
custom GSE
weathered/heavily used taxiway detailing
flag making

From La Tierra Del Sol
100% Custom 1:400 work
Terminal Glass technique
Air Condition unit making
taxiway tire marking/dirt technique
Terminal Detailing

From the chinese Airport:
Complex Terminal detail work
Complex Taxiway detailing
Terminal Support technique
Maybe green asphalt

Another airport that I sold awhile ago was my 1:400 South San Diego International which was a custom 1:400 airport that I made on an old Herpa store disply. Here's a link to a pic of it: South San Diego International - Wings900 Model Photo Gallery From that airport I will be using these techniques:
1:400 gate spacing
1:400 RJ parking (Frank Luke is about 70% RJ traffic)
1:400 set up techniques ( the setting up of individual aircraft in various positions)

Keep up the good work, Southwest. It's looking lovely. The "Groundwork" looks promising. Will look forward for the next update shots.

Thanks! I have a quick update, I have began to plan out my gate placements and I am about 50% done with that, and so far I have 44 gates. I'm expecting to reach 60 easily. 35 of those gates belong to America West or America West Express As they are the biggest hub for the airport. The rest of the gates will be split among the other airlines serving Frank Luke.

**Update**
My final gate count for this airport is 75 gates. only about 11 of those can handle 752's the rest are A320's and smaller. I have 30 RJ Gates. While I was working on my airport I noticed a puddle of water on the table so I had to take some time to fix that and wrap some garbage bags over the pipes over the airport to prevent future flooding. I am also having issues with runway 11's threshold markings and runway 16's number but I'll post some pics when I get the rest of their markings on.

Really coming together nicely. Keep up the steady and great work. Make this one look as awesome as your KSTL diorama turned out!

Runway markings completed

Progress continues with the rest of the markings being added to runway 16. Next step is tire marks and aging (it looks too "new" for me lol). I am also adding the markings to runway 11 but this morning my corrections tape dispenser decided to stop working so I have to buy another one. Let me know what you think.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Today I made a ton of progress on the airport. I finished all gridding work, taxiway lines, and all but 1 of the runway markings. I'll probably get down there in a bit and finish that up. Next is going to apron and roadway/parking garage. I got some money today so the wood will be ordered pretty soon.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Thanks. I'm working on the apron the design right now and I just purchased balsa wood for the terminal. I may remove a few gates because of gate spacing issues but it's looking really good right now. I will post some pics up ASAP. If you were to stretch out the terminal from end to end, it would be 325 inches long. I got lucky that I purchased 450 inches of balsa for $17.50. If anyone wants the sellers ebay-store link just let me know, the balsa they sell is very nice and very cheap.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Here are some updated apron pics. Just ignore the runway for now because I am still doing the chalk detail on it so it looks really messy and unrealistic right now.

Re: Plans and Progress on Frank Luke Jr. Regional airport

Southwest, this is undoubtfully your neatest and best airport yet. Very well thought out, planned, and carried out. I wish I could work at that quick of a pace. All construction on North Platte has momentarily halted until I acquire a band saw. Never listen to the instructions on the back of Evergreen packages: Telling you that the best way to cut it is to make a shallow cut with an X-Acto knife and bend the plastic near the cut and it cracks off in a very very not neat and messy and rough fashion.
