Re: Dubai International Airport in progress

Work goes on ... just painted airfield in grey a second time *hmpf*

I have almost completed the first gate tower with 3 gangways for 380 service. Its a damn work to get this small things in the correct position ... looking forward to other 6 gate tower I have to do.
First I want to build the end of the gangway (aircraft side) out of modelling clay, but I rejected my opinion in cause of toooo small work and impatiance of myself. ;D

Pictures will be shown in course of next week.

Looking good so far... nice work! A few years ago one of our members did a Dubai diorama. I went back and found the threads for ya so you can skim through them for ideas if you want.

Re: Dubai International Airport in progress

Hmpf ... damn "back"-button - so I have to write all again.

First I have finished all passanger gates/bridges but I have still have to make the intersection between bridge and aircraft. Just have to think about how to make it exactly.
Today we have installed the rack on the wall so you could see the first pictures aboud how it should be when it's done.

Hmm ... nothing to write at all ... so just enjoy the photos. Work goes on...

That's a different set up for a display, I like it though. Keep up the great work, I'm enjoying progress so far.

Welcome ... and glad to get your first post in my thread.

The terminal cover should be made out of a translucent polypropylene panel with about 0,5mm thickness. I say "should" because I have to test it ... maybe I have to use other materials.

Re: Dubai International Airport in progress

Nice job on your work about the Jetbridges and the jetbridge "Towers". It's very detailed, Good for you to create the excellent details. It looks promising, like I have mention before as well. I'll follow the process with excitement.

Re: Dubai International Airport in progress

It is weekend ... so time to build.

I have prepared the gates and gangways a lil bit cause I tried to build the intersection betwen gangway and aircraft and I think it looks pretty good. As you can see I have painted the tayway to the aircraft positions and drilled some holes for the ground lights. At the other side I drilled greater holes to get the LEDs in there.
Cause my impatient I startet to insert LEDs into the holes and prepared cables to connect them.

What do you think about gates/gangways?

At the moment I'm preparing the ground lights and did a first test with some lights ... I think it looks great.

Second picture is testing with at least 6 LEDs just to know if it will work and how it look like. Third picture is a final testing with all 9 LEDs in ground on one taxtway.

Re: Dubai International Airport in progress

Sorry, I am intrigued by your electronics work. Not to confuse you, but are you making them flash with a 555 astable or decade counter? Is is PCB mounted? What is the diameter of the lights, the smallest I have in my electronics store is the 3mm LED in a variety of colours?
Thanks

Matt

Hey Matt,

I hope I understand all your questions. ;D
First at all the LEDs won't flash ... still glowing continuous and they aren't mounted on a PCB. Like on a picture posted before you can see lil holes in the aircraft taxway. That holes are drilled for the LEDs which are inserted and fixed by glue by myself. So everything is free construction and not designed by any PCB etc.
Hehe ... 3mm LEDs are too big for that ... I know. They are also round on the top, so it wouldn't look as good as a clean surface. I found some LEDs which are adapted to my diorama at a german electronic shipping company. So I placed an order for that LEDs and some other stuff I would need for my work.

Picture by Reichelt Elektronik, (item number: LED 2MM FT GN (green))

The LED has a plane top and the top is only 2mm. So there are small enough for a 1:500 diorama but great enough to handle - not like SMD. (But I will use SMD too for some other parts of my diorama, later more about it)
Costs about 0,10€ each, but they are hard to find. Today I noticed that I have ordered not enough of these LEDs *DAMN* and I tried to get some at a small local electronic store but they have only "normal" LEDs. Have to think about what I should do or where to get some more LEDs.
