Need help with color choices for an airport

Hey, I have a predicament choosing the colors for my 1:500 Chinese airport's terminal. The only building on this airport is going to be the terminal and hopefully a control tower ontop of it but that's not important. The color options are in the poll, I will be using spray paint to apply these colors.

Re: Need help with color choices for an airport

I'm gonna start working on this building over memorial day weekend, the metallic color isn't a paint but this cool material that I found and I used it to trim my KSTL terminal. It's really easy to work with and sticks well. I'll let you know what I choose.

Re: Need help with color choices for an airport

I said other. For a Chinese airport I'd go with a white or grey background and then a red and yellow stripe running parallel to ground all around the terminal. Make it look modern.

Re: Need help with color choices for an airport

For a Chinese airport, I suggest that you consider something Asian looking, drawing upon the Oriental architectural vernacular--maybe it seems lika a cliche, but why not place a jade green pagoda-style roof (and have the control tower placed in a separate location i.e. NOT on the terminal's roof), and cream-colored walls with some bright red accents. Look back a few months to the thread of Hikouki's airport for a cool adaptation of this style. Mainly, take your time, enjoy doing the work, and strive for good results. Keep us posted! pete

I had a look at Hikouki's airport, I like the pagoda roof, I'll deffently incorporate that idea into the design. Judging by what I've seen with newer terminals in the real world, it seems that more modular designs are in for the base of the terminal then roof's, windows, and other details are added. But I am really liking the pagoda idea, I'll see what I can draw up in terms of blueprints for something like that.

I would definatly go with the purple. It would bring a fresh new look to a terminal and I think would look great!

However, it is an airport set in China. It would be interesting, new, and different, but it may not fit in. Or it may. I'm not sure. Go with your own opinion, but I would go for a more Asian feel. For example, google the airport in Samui, Thailand. It blends in right with the rest of the island. Maybe you should do something like that (minus the thatched roofs!)

I googled the airport, it seems more islandish as opposed to a land-locked city in northeastern China. But I see the color blending. I was also thinking about something like white backround with an artistic, kind of red line across the terminal. Look at the intro to Mulan like that kind of design across the face of the Terminal and The sides would be white with a small, red diagonal stripe on it.

1:500 Chinese Airport - a set on Flickr

Here's what I have done on the airport so far. The long asphalt strip between a taxiway and a parking area(that still needs to be marked) is going to an airport vehicle road. The rest of the asphalt areas are to help make the taxiway, holding points more visible.

Chinese airport Update

Here is the ground of the chinese airport, I was working hard yesterday and got pretty far on it. I also got a new yellow paint pen , and this is the results of all that hard work. I painted all this by hand, no foils, stencils etc.

Re: Need help with color choices for an airport

Judging by the results of the poll, I've determined that the terminal will have a metallic backround, blue tinted or black tinted windows, and the roof will be a kind of pogada style roof, with a black trim color, and I'm thinking white shingle work and the airport name in black or blood red. Let me know what you think about this idea. Thanks to all who voted and/or gave their ideas.
