Thumbs up Re: 2nd project: GLENDALE INT. AIRPORT

Ferihegy, (what the hell is your real name anyway?) everybody knows I am a strong opponent to Herpa buildings and Herports (especially on DAC). But I must say, your little retro-port is a GREAT use of Herpa buildings. You have added enough custom touches to make this a truly nice airport! Great job buddy, keep it up!

Re: 2nd project: GLENDALE INT. AIRPORT

Thanks Dylan! I'm also not a big fan of them, but I tried to combine them in a different way, so the "boring" buildings getting interesting again!
My name is Chris by the way

I don't blame you or anyone if you say those Herpa buildings are boring and that's the reason why keen and skillful airport diorama builders do their own terminals with much more eye pleasing and closer to reality shapes.

However, I do believe Herpa buildings can look nice too if we know where to put them on our foils. That Herpa diorama in Dietenhofen is an example. I myself only have those Herpa standard foils and buildings though I never use them as a unity anymore since I couldn't stand the dust on them after a while.

How about adding more building varieties to your future diorama? These Apron Boarding Stations (Art no : 520533) don't seem to be that bad. They are good accessories, cheaper than those departure halls and they do well for narrow-bodies such as baby Airbuses/Boeings and Trijets. Sorry, I dont have any Trijets in 1:400 scale but I can give you an example with a 1:500 one here. As you know, the height of the gangways can always be adjusted.

Well, it's only my suggestion and I look forward to seeing your next project in the future.

Thanks Angie!
I'll buy these apron-jetways for sure, I only concentrated on planes till now but will increase the number of buildings and add-ons in future!
I have already plans for my third project...

A nice add-on for you guys...

A decade earlier, we're in the 60s now.
As you see, some parts of the terminal were not there at the time and we see some beautiful classics like the 707, DC8 or the first Aeroflot IL62 ever been to the USA.

ENJOY!

I like the "time capsule" effect using retro planes, and the terminal as it was in the 1960's. Excellent job, Chris!

hmm...i wonder how the whole place would look like if you were to back track 10 more years in time to the 50s... some DC-3s and DC-4s perhaps?

Good idea! Sadly, I've got only a few props which wouldn't bring too much life into the airport
