From my personal experience, the only other option is to remove and reset the landing gear which I discourage. Or one could use a dab of glue from a glue stick to keep the aircraft on all threes.

Ah, a shame to hear. I just read on a huge T-Gauge forum that the Kiha 40 sets are now going to be one car units instead of 2 car units, and at the retailer I usually buy from, the price is around the 26-27 mark. I know they're trying to make sure they get the product right the first time (I guess after the very first run of the 103 series was said to be less than satisfactory), but these delays are insanely long. I also know the switch tracks are also delayed because they are trying to perfect them (they tend to set up to around .5mm off the mark they need). Word is that Mr. Hiari also gave us a nice surprise video that he is going to send to adnar (guy who runs trainaidsa) in the near future. So I can't wait for that! Either way, should be planning to order the track and another 103 set for my layout so I can finally start on that.

Hey! I found out some stuff on the Kiha 40 that you're waiting on! My retailer said he got to speak to the guy behind T-Gauge, and he brought up the Kiha 40s saying in the email "

The Kiha sets on the other hand, are taking time due to minor issues
with the gears. The turnouts were only made in a test batch and also
need some adjustments before they are approved for final production
    run.

Mr. Hirai also mentioned that since each Car Set goes through a test
run under close scrutiny. The production speed is thus limited by
these tests. So delays between ordering Car sets and deliveries will
    "
