Why you choose your nickname?

The reply "mind your own business" is a possible option. But my question, and this thread, is just a curiosity about the various nicknames, some very peculiar, some extravagant and some quaint. Many nicknames reflect something of ourselves, a way of saying "Hi, i am here and i Am".
I choose my for my passion for charter airlines: i have never flew with a "pure" charter airline, but i have a real love for them. More than regular charter-low cost airlines ( today the differences between them are very subtle), i talk about the pure classic charter airlines, those who leases their airplanes and that have not a scheduled flight activity. An example: Flash Airlines (tragic end for one of its B737-300), VIM Airlines, Eurofly...and so on. My passion comes from what charter airlines evoke in my mind, that is holidays, colorful liveries (sometimes completely withe liveries!), travel to exotic resorts and airports. And the type of airport is the second reason for my love for charter airlines: i remember and old article on a civil aviation magazine about Rimini "Federico Fellini" airport in Italy, and it was full of Russian charter traffic, a great number of Il-86 and Tu-154 airplanes! And how can i not share with you my great love for "charter" airports as Salzburg , Rhodes, Funchal? These are a paradise for spotters!
I would like more charter airlines models in my 1:500 collection, it is a redundand speech, with some old and demised charter airlines to be resurrected in 1:500, some important (Futura or XL Airways for example), some less known (Luxorair of Egypt),but each to represent the wonderful, chaotic, colorful world of charters.

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

MY nick, is not a nick. I just use my name, simple and easy.
In my opinion this is a way how to be honest, to show my respect to other collectors and give simple information who I am.

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

I chose because as most of you have guessed, i'm from Ireland and Aer Lingus has a very strong place in my heart.
Furthermore, I travelled to Los Angeles a couple of times with my family, when EI operated the route, and most of the time we flew over in EI-LAX ( an A330-200) to LAX Int'l airport!!

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

My nickname is merely a stupid error...I worked as Software QA Manager a long time ago and was also a hard-core Star Trek Fan (Trekkie). When we tested new network software I had to enter an username, I wanted to use "Convention" (= Star Trek Convention) but the software only allowed 8 letters...therefore, Conventi....and I choose to use this nickname from there on...

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

Mine is "Leadership" because I choosed my nickname when SQ started flying the A345 beauty named "Leadership" (as Jubilee or Megatop for their Boeing). Today SQ don't use anymore name for their fleet.

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

I chose mine, based upon the callsign that I'd like to hear one day (Once BA gets their A380s)

Also the A380 is one of my favourite aircraft, and I can't wait to see it in BA colours

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

Well, I have no imagination ( ) so I just went with French, well because I am, and Wings because I like planes.
But the 06, is because it is, was actually, the last 2 numbers on the French plates for the area I come from in France. The Departement des Alpes Maritimes.

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

I've choice mine because when I was child TransBrasil introduced a trio of 767-200s (PT-TAA, -TAB and TAC), the first outside North America. They had respectively blue, orange and green painted wings and soon I've felt in love with them. I've flew on one in 1984 but I don't remember which. My favourite is the blue winged Tango Alpha Alpha. Photos: Boeing 767-2Q4 Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

I chose "ModelAirports" because back in 2007-08 I used to build several airports consisting of a paper terminals, and one plane which was made out of paper. In the end these airports got junked of course. So that's how I got my name.

Re: Why you choose your nickname?

A few years ago I was working with a group to start an airline and it was to be named Peak Airways. I used it as a marketing tool. Then the economy tanked and money dried up, I still kept it anyways.

You ever think you will look to re-start the project? Obviously once the economy turns around, whenever that will be.

My name is pretty self-explanatory.
