Re: Model around the world

I've just been on Google Earth, and currently it will have to travel approximately 21,100 miles.

I'm in. I guess I could take a picture of it next to a corn field. Not much else in Nebraska.

Furry,
Perhaps it is time to begin compiling a list of destinations.

I think you are right. I've been thinking the best way to do this and if everyone is in agreement, i'll list the users and their locations here. Simplest way would be to send it to the next one on the list. For example i will send it to Flight fan in Sweden. When you receive the model and have taken your picture, PM the next on the list for a postal address. I'll open a dedicated thread where you can post your picture and the mileage from where you received it to your location. For example, flight fan will post his picture and the mileage from Belfast, UK to Stockholm Sweden, Alexakos will post his picture and the mileage from Stockholm to Athens and so on.

So the list as it stands (and feel free to correct or add yourself to it)

1) Flight Fan-Stockholm, Sweden
2) Alexakos-Athens, Greece
3) Pashka-London, UK
4) Lufthansa340-New York (Poughkeepsie), USA
5) TheCreator-Tel Aviv, Israel
6) MYT DC-10-Nottingham, UK
7) CO777/200-Giebelstadt, Germany
8) Vince1159-UK
9) #1jetblue-Boston, USA
10) Frenchwings06, Dallas, USA
11) Fedex777-Longbeach, USA
12) Silkair319-Not sure where you are!
13) Silverbird-Hamburg, Germany
14) Ijineda-Vienna, Austria
15) Flyingdoc-Melbourne, Australia
16) Eq&sq-Singapore, RSA
17) Speedbird380super-London, UK
18) Jetsforlife-Nebraska-USA
19) Matt109-UK
20) Daniel333-Mexico/Denmark

I'm guessing from the votes, a few are missing. If you want to participate please cut the above list and add your details.

Again i'm open to suggestion for a better way to do it.

This is starting to look very cool. I might see about getting some special stamps for the postage too. Some to showcase Australia and maybe some with an aviation theme too!

Re: Model around the world

I think I'd be quicker to send the model on a sequential path so it doesn't have to criss-cross continents each time and I'd be a bit less expensive. Here's what I propose:

1) Furryforrest - Northern Ireland
2) Vince1159-UK (assuming London?)
3) Pashka-London, UK (assuming London?)
4) Speedbird380super-London, UK
5) MYT DC-10-Nottingham, UK
6) Matt109-UK
7) Flight Fan-Stockholm, Sweden
8) Daniel333-Mexico/Denmark (Assuming Denmark)
9) CO777/200-Giebelstadt, Germany
10) Silverbird-Hamburg, Germany
11) Ijineda-Vienna, Austria
12) Alexakos-Athens, Greece
13) TheCreator-Tel Aviv, Israel
14) Eq&sq- Singapore, Singapore
15) Silkair319- Singapore, Singapore
16) Flyingdoc-Melbourne, Australia
17) Fedex777-Longbeach, USA
18) Frenchwings06, Dallas, USA
19) Jetsforlife-Nebraska-USA
20) Southwest Airlines- Saint Louis USA
21) Lufthansa340-New York (Poughkeepsie), USA
22) #1jetblue-Boston, USA
-> Back to FurryForrest, Belfast

Assuming it goes to the nearest airport with cargo service, it would travel 27149 mi according to GCM.

The postage is how it is supposed to make money for charity! The more miles it flies and the more stamps accrued, the greater the success. Perhaps you should be working at FedEx!

My bad! I thought it was about getting a stamp or two from each country, not the distance the model goes. Never mind my idea then, the original takes it 78000 miles which should give Furry's friend some pretty nice stamps for the charity

I thought it doesn't depend on the number of miles flown. Just the number of the collected stamps and different countries.
